Is this tournament worth going to?((if you're a spectator))...or will it be a waste of time

Last year we had over 350 competitors from across the state. There were several of the young state placers there in addition to some surprise performances from some of the unknowns.

We have moved to McGavock this year so that we can have seating on both sides of the mats for better viewing. In addition we feel that we could be over 400 in competitors this time.

In the weight classes where there were several competitors, the champions had to wrestle many times to win it all and that was without the normal 45 minute rest period.

This was a great tournament last year and we did have a bigger turn out than expected. I'd really like to see some of the fans, coaches or athletes that participated last year comment on if they thought it was worth while.

Based on last year's turn out, we are preparing for a larger number of participants this year. I'm hoping that is another great event that we can make into a tradition for our Freshman & Sophomore athletes.

Many times, these guys are not able to break into the Varsity line ups and this gives them a state level event to compete and show what they have learned through their scholastic season. As we all know, these guys will be our state champions in a couple of years!
