Let me ask a few questions for all those who might be interested in this job:

1. How many kids are coming back next year? It's a small school, I would think the talent level would be a concern for many coaches.

2. How much is the supplement? It's a small rural town so I doubt they will be able to compete with Georgia and Hamilton Co pay where most of the better coaches live in the Tennessee River Valley

3. What is there new schedule?

They have 17 Seniors coming back next year, with the same schedule as last year. They will have a really good team next year, so who ever comes in will look as if they have turned the program around and that the Super made the right decision. I still think that this is a personal issue over the polk deal, and the Super knows that this is the time to make a change because if he made the change and they did'nt have a good season the people would would think of him as incompetent. Folks in Copper, how close am I?

I am not from Basin but Possum I think you hit the nail on the head!

I am from no where near Basin either. I have talked to many other coaches and they feel the same way as I do about this matter. This is just a slap in the face to someone in the bussiness of coaching. You stay with the program through the years you don't have the tallent because you love the community and the kids, and when you have the tallent he has coming back next year, they let you go. But I will say this, it is good to know that even though the Polk county administration let him down; I know he has to feel good about how the community has supported their coach. This all I have to say about this matter except to say good luck to Coach Stone and just know a good coach always lands on their feet.

    • so the players dad who is a recruiter is now at Oakland?
    • We are optimistic because we will have another great season. You should keep your opinions on your Forrest Rocket board. These kiddos at Marion have had an amazing off season. They are working hard and it is showing. Coach TStark is getting these kids scholarships to get their college for free. Also Coach Harm is back so this is another awesome thing for our kiddos. Forrest will get theirs when they come to Bill Baxter Stadium this season. My main men Sam, Tay and Tilton are going to do amazing things this season. You should just watch and see what these kiddos are capable of doing. The Marion County Warriors are a force to be reckoned with again this year. East Robertson will be a good team again but that is the only big challenge this team will have again. If we can beat East Robertson like I know we can then we will go to the state championship and win the game. As always it is a great day to be a warrior. Go Warriors! We are Marion!
    • The player is only able to go because of the coach who is his dad. The dad is a recruiter not a good coach. HC blamed him for losing the Clinton game in the playoffs.
