anyone know the score of the beech/h'ville match? Central beat MJ 5-4 today, but i think MJ still gets the #3 seed in the tourney.

Hendersonville came out on top 5-4.

Hubert(H) over Shaw

Craighead(H) over Menon

Baggett(Beech) over Huff

Peters(H) over Redden

Wilkins(Beech) over Pavlik

Georg(H) over Stalvey

Double

Shaw-Menon(Beech) over Hubert-Craighead

Huff-Peters(H) over Baggett-Wilkins

Redden-Stalvey(Beech) over Georg-Pavlik

Both teams are now 13-3 overall.

Watch MJ doubles #1

they are undefeated and have beaten Hville, Springfield and Beech.

WC defeated MJ #1 doubles twice - so MJ is not undefeated. Many of the schools mentioned on here have very old and well-coached tennis programs - and good for them! Ya' gotta' give credit to WC, a five year old school, they've only had a tennis program for a few years, have had a different coach each season (most who weren't even "real" tennis coaches). The girls team is really in bad shape - most of them are freshmen and have only recently picked up the game. The boys team has two or three good players, but the boys team isn't deep. They're a blast too - great bunch of guys. My sister's boyfriend plays for MJ so we go to a lot of the MJ and WC matches. Don't count Central out - they're still young and building!

    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
    • Hopefully you’re not signing off for good. There are a lot of Oak Ridge fans that appreciate your comments.
    • Florida tried urban/rural split two years ago. 4 urban classes, 4 rural classes. Didn’t work. Next year they will have 7 regular classes, 1 urban class for small schools only.
