DTbone
David, you may be able to answer a question that I have been wondering about. I heard the Cumberland County is building a new school and may change districts for you next year. How true is this and what is to be expected for you guys? The new school (Stone Memorial) will play AA and Cumberland County HS will stay in district 5-3A. Most of the players from this years CCHS team will be at Stone Memorial next year. Bradley only loses two. However both of them are pitchers. We keep our sophmore pitcher, who is awesome. Some say she is the best we have now. Plus we have 2-3 pitchers who may very well step up to pitching varsity next year. So it doesn't appear to be an issue. I will definitely keep my eye on how Stone Memorial does next year. Good Luck! CATBIDDLE
Congratulations to Cumberland! You guys played a great game. The Cumberland picther has so much movement on her ball, much less the speed behind it. She did a good job. I should give your catcher a lot of credit too, because she saved a lot of pitches that should have been at the backstop. You also have a great defense to back it all up with. You definitely have a solid team, and have for years. We hope to see you in the championship! Be careful traveling! Especially if the weather gets bad! It seems strange that we have someone in our district that is hours away. any results yet. i think walker valley and cumberland were playing in the finals. wildukcats
Walker Valley finally started playing up to their potential during the District Tournament. Bradley would have won in the 10th inning if not for the unbelievable catch made by Meagan Masingale in Centerfield that saved two runs. Kelli Ledford got her sac bunt down to put the winning run on third and Ashotn Burrell got the RBI single to win the game. All three of these seniors are special and stepped up when the team needed them. Bradley had a heck of a season and showed everyone that they are a very good softball team. Best of luck to their seniors next year in college. WV had the opportunity to force the if necessary game but made an error and their DP hit a three run home run with 2 outs and 2 strikes. Congrats to them on a wonderful season. Coach T is a class act.
