IMO, Spencer Nelson is the work horse of the USJ team, his work ethic is impressive . I am told he has played 3rd, short, first, outfield, caught and pitched for his team this year. WOW...IMPRESSIVE :o

I agree Spencer does not get the press or message board coverage he deserves but somehow I don't think that's his style. I understand he comes from a very humble family.

I watched him for the first time at state last year, that first game he came in 2nd inning and took control of the game. The championship game he pitched a gem with a finger on his pitching hand swollen twice its size.

I said this before and I will say it again I saw the AA state games last year and USJ could have won (IMO).

Good luck to the Bruins as they go for their 5th state championship

strutting thier stuff in A is good but AA is a tad bit harder

How many earned runs does Covington have off Gant or Nelson in three games this year? I think we all know the answer to this question. It wouldn't matter if there were 25 students at USJ or 3000, I'd be concerned with those 2 if I were in your position. Covington has pitched very well against USJ too, but don't start with the nonsense about USJ competing in AA again.

USJ is a talened team that should beat the Covington squad. As I have seen USJ just a couple of times, I think that the junior pitcher they have is a solid #1 who can beat ANYONE! The number two guy ,who is a senior, is pretty decent with not nearly as good of stuff as the junior. The reason they will win in my opinion is because they can field a routine ground ball unlike most teams in West TN. Either way, tonights match up has two of the most egotistical coaches going head to head. Both coaches ( Miller and Dyer) think that they are better than everyone else except for the small circle of people they surround. I am not being mean or untruthful just stating the facts.

USJ and Covington played on Wednesday buddy. Covington won 3-0, and USJ booted some balls on the infield. Gant is a sohpomore, and niether Miller nor Dyer are egotistical at all. So as for the facts, there they are!! :thumb:

    • Wiz, could you kindly inquire of MP whether my pork shoulder has completed its duration in the smoker? My appetite has been piqued, and I eagerly await its readiness. Regrettably, it appears that despite my attempts at communication, there has been no response forthcoming from him.
    • Given your evident depth of knowledge on coaching matters, I'm intrigued to hear your perspective on who you believe would be the most suitable candidate for the position.
    • If he’s the best option that isn’t good. I heard he couldn’t even get the qb to play baseball this year.  kids aren’t coming out for him either he’s in the same boat. But it’s trousdale county and it’s just baseball. You can win one game a year same goes for basketball no one will even kno or talk about it. Just like up here on the hill basketball is the more serious thing in my books if you start losing there’s usually some change..
    • I live in Macon and watched both but I’ll take up for satterfield on this one look at the dudes he has these 2 years compared to the others don’t forget we barely even scored on them there for awhile when he started coaching there just look at 2018 on   If you give him athletes to play with he’s a dangerous d c.
