DB vs Hall Scrimmage

Dobyns Bennett looks very tough. Halls young squad held up well as they could. Much better than the spring scrimmage. Ended something like 42-14. But first team for the first hour or so was 28-14 with DB jumping out early to a 21-0 score. A blocked punt was scooped up for one of those scores so the defense started to come around after a while. The offense looked good at times and looked terrible at others with fumblitis effecting most of our running backs. Halls looked to go ahead early on Coopers long pass to Dayton which went to the DB five but the very next play FUMBLE. DB responded with a great march down the field for 7. After that it was all DB untill cooper hit Dayton on a deep route for 6. Kitts got loose around the outside for a 40 yard TD run. Cooper had another td bounce of a receivers hand straight into a DB players hands. So Halls had chances they just didn't close the deal.

To the DB fans your team looks like they will go all the way this year. A good looking team. A fair bet is you have Oak Ridge on your mind.

#12 was the Transfer from DC.. Marchez Barnes (expect he will wear #2 in the season). My good buddie Spear told me that he and Sylvester looked really good at the TB position...fast and elusive... something the Indians and Graham Clark has been missing for a few seasons. Not anymore.

This DB Indians Team has been in the works for a long time now... here it comes.

This is from tricitiessports.com... tonight. (Coach Clark speaking)

"I think we looked good for an opening scrimmage,'' said Clark. "We executed pretty good, for having tired legs. And the defense found the ball good ... Bo Burton did some awfully good things today and our running backs ran hard.''

Burton, the No. 1 quarterback, ran for one touchdown on a keeper and threw a pass in the end zone to wide receiver Josef Throp for another. That play covered about 40 yards. Sophomore Justin Sylvester also had a run of just under 20 yards for a score, Bart Ring passed 20 yards to Reed King for a score and Jamie Crawford went in on a keeper on the last play of the scrimmage. The Indians also scored on a blocked punt.

Halls scored on a 40-yard pass with the TD aided by the fact the Indian defending slipped down on the 10, and also scored on a long run against the reserves.

In addition to Sylvester looking good, transfer Marchez Barnes -- who moved here from the Washington, D.C., area -- looked good at running back.

Clark said Barnes' eligibility has to be approved by the TSSAA. He has a guardian here.

"But we're optimistic he'll be approved,'' said Clark. "We should find out early next week.''
