kwc
I agree, Fayette Ware has played good footabll. But ... let's not get too carried away. Why do I say this? ... Well, these are their current victories. At Gibson Co. (W 51-13), Westside at home (W 29-0), McNairy Central-R at home (W 42-0), Westwood at home (W 35-0). currently, not one of these teams are very good. To date, Sept. 11, 2006, Gibson & Westside are 1-3. McNairy is 1-2, and Westwood is 0-4. These aren't exactly world beaters. Haywood is currently 1-3, with it's one win coming against a hapless 1A Manassas team. They did play JCM very well though, losing 26-28. They play Covington next week before they play FW. Haywood could very well, and most likely, be 1-4 when they face FW on Sept. 22. That being said ... this is the remaining schedule. Fri Sep. 22 at Haywood Fri Sep. 29 at Jackson South Side R Fri Oct. 6 Liberty Tech. Magnet R Fri Oct. 13 Lexington R Fri Oct. 20 at Bolivar Central R Fri Oct. 27 Chester Co. R I expect FW to be 5-0 coming into the JSS game. Although, their competition hasn't been stiff ... FW is extremely better then they were 2 years ago ... as a matter of fact ... they are extremely better then last year. They will go to the playoffs this year ... and they could either be the 1 or 2 seed when they do. I'm basing this on the FW 'D'. The've only allowed 26 points to be scored on them all year. Better yet, according to last weeks Commercial Appeal stat leader through 3 weeks, they were only allowing 86.3 yards per game. Only two other teams in the Shelby County and surrounding area had better team stats. Covington (Haywoods next opponent, by the way) is the best with a 'D' that is only allowing 35.5 yards per game through two games. Fayette Acadamy has the second best 'D' at 60.3 yards per game through 3 games. FW's Offense is ranked the 7th best in the area as well. Through 3 games ... they have ammased 1,035 yards at a clip of 345.00 yards per game. The leader in this category is Fayatte Acadamy at 394.0 yards per game. Here are the stats of Fridays game against Westwood. At Fayette-Ware FAYETTE-WARE 46, WESTWOOD 16 Westwood 0 16 0 0 — 16 Fayette-Ware 20 14 6 6 — 46 F — Robert Freeman 37 pass from Darius Washington (Kendall Williams run) F — Wade Bonner 84 run (run failed) F — Wade Bonner 65 pass from Darius Washington (pass failed) F — Wade Bonner 20 run (Daylen Hubbard run) W — Patrick Handy 40 interception return (Dartaniel Palmoore run) W — Joseph Smith 2 run (Joshua Wimbley run) F — Welvander Tapplin 65 pass from Darius Washington (run failed) F — Robert Freeman 15 pass from Darius Washington (run failed) F — Dedrick Hubbard 6 run (run failed) W F First downs 7 9 Net yards rushing 51 217 Net yards passing 2 340 INDIVIDUAL STATISTICS RUSHING — Fayette-Ware, Wade Bonner 7-129, Kendall Williams 6-57. PASSING — Westwood, Joseph Smith 3-17-2-0. Fayette-Ware, Darius Washington 11-17-340-3. RECEIVING — Fayette-Ware, Wade Bonner 3-93, Robert Freeman 6-172, Welvander Tapplin 1-65. RECORDS — Westwood 0-4, Fayette-Ware 4-0. As you can see ... they held WW to 53 yards total offense and gained 557 yards of total offense. In conclusion ... Good teams do what FW is doing against marginal or bad teams. They win big and they shut teams down. I think their real test comes against JSS on Sept. 29, 2006. THAT will be a very good game!
