Best Player You've Never Heard Of

Since Tenn. adopted the libero, the best player at that position has been Miranda Robbins a senior at Anderson County High School. The coaches in Knoxville vote her Defensive Player of the Year last season, and she is unhittable this year.

Anderson County opened in 1982. In those 25 years AC has won 21 district championships, 14 regional championships and has won 13 sub-states. They were state champions in 99', and have been in 4 of the last 7 state finals. They have had over 50% of the girls that played for them go onto to college on a vb scholarship. During that time they have only had 2 players make starter as freshmen. One was Leigh Ann Ohmstead, the other is Miranda Robbins.

She is lightening quick, and is going to break the single season record for digs. She already holds the career record. Her technique is flawless. Last season she was so good at serve receive it allowed the coaches to use a 2-person SR (how often do you see that in high school) and she led the lady mavs to another state final.

This season, she is taking over games with her defense. She, along with fellow senior and ds Leslie Meacom, are keeping the young mavs in matches with their stellar play. Both are being recruited to play college ball.

Robbins is a special talent with a great work ethic. Too often we focus on the big hitters, inch-for-inch, she is the best player in the state.

I remember well watching Robbins last year at the state tournament.

She is indeed a fantastic player. No team would be any good without terrific passers and diggers. Any offense starts there.

Thanks, Bratman, for reminding us that defense is so important. Maybe some other great liberos can be highlighted here on this thread.

Keep an eye out for Megan Givens; GPS's libero. She is a sophomore and is one of the reasons that our defense is so good this year. GPS is fortunate to have her for two more years after this one.

Father Ryan has a Freshman at the Libero position, played on that IMPACT 15 TEal National Championship team at the same position. Shame though that at Regional and State tourney's these awesome players cannot serve!!!

viva le libero!!!
