I know the board rules champ this topic was for discussion purposes. Wheather or not it is aganist the "board rules" or not it still happens a lot. Rules 1,2,3,4,5,13 and 16 also are vauge in nature and are allowed in almost every topic. I was trying to encourage the why of not doing it not vauge rule interpetation. Thank You

Is it wrong to call out by name or positon a particular player in a post?

Are they too young? Does it matter the position? Is say calling out the line different than say a receiver. I know what I believe what are your thoughts.

I don't think it is right to call out an individual player by name to criticize their play. Saying the line needs to block or the backs need to hit the ole or the LB need to be more aggressive is OK but to single out by name is not in my opinion. Calling out by name to give kudos is OK. These are 15-19 year old kids not college or professional athletes.

So and So is a good athlete and Linebacker, I just wish he could tackle better b/c his missed tackles are causing them to lose games.

Where does this fall?

I didn't say he stunk, but it was critical.

I think it is over the line. I think if you stop after "tackle better," it is OK but the losing games takes it over the edge. These are highschool kids.

speaking for myself...I like to see posts that discuss teams as a whole...how they stack up...by people who are objective and are talking from their mind not their heart...I like to see players praised as long as it doesn't become a P/R campain...I never like to see individual players called out in a poor light...as a poster earlier said...they are 15-19 yr old kids...

I think it wrong only if the player is playing to his best ability out there and then who are u to criticize them it is up to the coach to do that and plus u might not be doing no better urself. DOnt u hate when someone on ur team calls u out or trys to coach u and ur thinking shut up and try playing that position and see how good u succeed in it.

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
