What can i say, but i believe in our boys and the coaches are getting things together this week. A rocky start, but we just may upset someone if we work together. Look for the Offense and Defense working closer together this week, and bleeding over to the next 3 games. We have nothing to lose, but everything to gain. Springfield is huge, but I cannot honestly tell how good they are till friday night.

My thoughts for the next few weeks: Very tough, but put your money on these picks.

-Northwest upsets Springfield = got to have a dream finally come true

-Kenwood beats Mt. Juliet, then they will beat Clarksville, then Springfield. The knights are my pick to win the region. They are getting better week by week. The transition of Amius to WR, and denton to FB is paying off. Close games, but i just feel Kenwood wants it more than anyone. You can bet I will be wearing Black and Gold Next friday. Got to represent northside of Clarksville. Kenwood will face a good Cobra squad, but Knights win and meets Springfield in round two. I will be at that game. Kenwood goes to round 3, betting my dollar on this. Then REMATCH AT MAPLEWOOD. I cannot comment on this game though. :thumb:

-Clarksville takes #2 in the region. They beat springfield in the 4th quarter to get the spot. Hey everyone, 2 home games in the playoffs in clarksville. They face an old foe of clarksville in round one and win, yes, stratford comes back to clarksville and finally gets spanked. This sets up a game that I have wanted to see for sometime. My good buddy Ralph Thompson at Maplewood will win this one, but it will come down to the 4th quarter.

-Springfield is our #3, and it will set up the match-up that never happened in the first round of the playoffs. Bad weather will not keep these teams apart. Refering to the rain out scrimmage in August. I smell upset over the Boros in November.

-The #4 is a tough one, but I believe this is going to be Beech. If this team can stop fumbling and making mistakes they will win out. However, they get embarrassed against Maplewood in round one.

I feel the top 3 picks are our best hope in the play-offs. Game I would love to see is a Kenwood vs. Maplewood rematch, or Clarksville High vs. Whites Creek rematch. O' if the cards fell in place that would be sweeeeeeeet.

Looks to be an exciting 4 weeks to go. Congrats to Coach Offit, but I would love to beat a Titans Coach of the Week. However, good to see a man go from the bottom to the top. You deserve it coach, and cannot wait to chat with him on friday pregame.

Well, Im glad you feel that Northwest will upset Springfield and those playoffs picks are FUNNY!!! Region 5-4A has some studs in it. I would love to see Region 6 dominate them but the teams are Hillsboro, Maplewood, & Stratford, they aint no pushovers. Yea, i support region 6 cause my team is in there, but ill tell you now that we aint gonna beat those Region 5 teams easily. Springfield is not gonna lose to Northwest, only way the will lose if they just dont show up. Now the best 3 weeks of Region 6 is bout to start up week 8,9, and 10. Kenwood and Clarksville(Clarksville Wins) week 8, Springfield and Kenwood(Springfield wins) week 9 and Springfield and Clarksville(Springfield wins) week 10. Those games will decide the region it will be a crazy 3 weeks. Springfield will come out region champs, with Clarksville following in behind them and Kenwood in third, I actually agree with you on one thing, Beech pulls the 4th playoff spot. Ill decide playoffs a little later.

having seen all three teams, i feel kenwood has more weapons, clarksville high is really good, and springfield is big.

Kenwood is in my back yard, and i want them to represent North Clarksville.

I just want to see our boys find success friday night. If you do recall, i did say every one should have a dream, and this game has been in my dreams since saturday night.

good luck this week to all 6-4A, as for 6-5A goes, this is a region that is stronger than last year, and our top 3 are more experienced than last year. See some good things out of our teams.

So Chris, is Ralph Thompson a GOOD friend of yours? Just needing to know that, because I was told you "GAVE" tapes to Maplewood last year you had on us for the playoff game. Now is that what a region TEAM should do especially if you are in the same city? Don't try and tell me you did not, as the Defensive Coordinator, whom I am a friend with, told me at a BB game last year!

Also Chris, the reason why some teams dont like NW is to me for the following reasons: !, you were beating us 43-6 and then on side kicked on us, 2) you were beating Springfield pretty bad and left the starters in the pat the stats, 3) you upset on our field last year by the pine trees, 4) you ran up the scores on people for almost 2 years, 5) you traded films with the enemy from another region. Need I say more. These are things people remember, CHRIS!

Talk in the locker room is the complete opposite CoachChris. From what some of the players have told me no one is stepping up. The team has reverted to the 2001-2002 Viking with brawls in the locker room after every game. I hope this is not the case because it would bring a great deal of dissention among the players for the next few years. I hate to tell the coaches to cut their losses this year and just start building on the next, but that might be the only option.

I suggest going back to the full grey sweat suit from three years ago and making the offensive and defensive units work out as a team. I think that is what made the 2003-2004 team successful. The team started building a brotherhood from day one.

In response to the running up of the score in 2004, that was a coaches decision. That night the incoming freshman class was brought into the stands from the local middleschool to watch the game. The score was run up to show those young men that they were coming into a successful program. As a member of the team that year I remember one of the Coaches bragging about it after the game at a dinner hosted by the booster club. I myself did not agree with the tactics of that game, and was later told if I didn't agree I should leave.

But, with all that aside I wish the Vikings some success in the last 3 games, especially to the seniors who might never step on the field as a player again.

I only ask that you bring the boys together for their last home game and pull out a victory. As an alumni I can tell the boys it really hurts to know the last game I played at Esau Lathon Stadium ended in a loss. Don't let that happen to our boys this year CoachChris.

From what I was told the decision to run up the scores was that of coach Dan Stevens. He was not going to pull Wilkerson because he wanted to increase the young mans stats.

As for getting it together, we are i do believe. Coaches did have a rough start but now are putting differences aside and trying to learn from each other. Will we win a game, I don't know. Will we play our hearts out, you better believe it.

I don't agree with much of my past, but as any great leader will tell you, "You must have fallen, before you know how to get up!"

Good luck to all in our region this week, and I hope we will support this region 100% this year. The past is in the past!!!!

Interesting..... I have been watching and reading alot of these threads on all 6-4A teams and their games. Makes me wonder since Footballfan15 does an awful lot of posting on NW threads (along with posting on the Hillsboro threads) if this could be an alias of one of NW coaches who departed and is now reported to be at Hillsboro..... especially since this post refers to the Wilkerson era - something that Coach Myers would be very familiar with since he was at NW during this time.

It seems as if a lot of Coaches have problems with the coaches out at Northwest. Northwest has the athletes out their to play good football. And I am pretty sure that when they get another Coach then things will be different with the other teams in the city. Even though they will still want to beat them. But if it is true about trading films with another school outside of the region and especially outside of the city then that is just plain wrong. Especially if you really want the region teams to do well.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
