HERE IS CLASS 3A HEADING INTO THE 8TH WEEK OF THE REGULAR SEASON

Region 1-3A:

1.) Carter: 7-0 (4-0)

2.) Claiborne: 6-1 (2-1): beat Gibbs

3.) Gibbs: 2-5 (2-1): beat Rutledge

4.) Rutledge: 4-3 (2-1): beat Seymour

5.) Seymour: 3-4 (1-2)

6.) Union Co.: 2-5 (1-3)

7.) Pigeon Forge: 0-7 (0-4)

Rutledge plays Claiborne this week in a game that could really shake up #'s 2-4 in the region standings. Carter has the region under control, already with a win over Claiborne, but this week's test against upset minded Gibbs will be tough for the Hornets to overlook. Seymour will try to hang on in the playoff hunt as they play Union Co. in an "eliminator game" this week.

Region 2-3A:

1.) Fulton: 7-0 (4-0): beat Kingston, AE, & Scott Co.

2.) Knoxville Catholic: 7-0 (3-0): beat AE

3.) Kingston: 5-2 (2-1)

4.) Austin East: 5-3 (3-2): beat Scott Co.

5.) Scott Co.: 4-3 (1-2)

6.) Anderson Co.: 1-6 (0-4)

6.) Livingston Academy: 1-6 (0-4)

Fulton finally plays Knoxville Catholic in what many consider "The Game of the Year" not only in 3A but statewide. That one will crown the region champion in all likelyhood. Austin East is idle this week after beating the three lower teams in the region. Kingston, who is still left on AE's schedule, plays Scott Co. this week in what's going to decide the final playoff team from this very tough region.

Region 3-3A:

1.) Meigs Co.: 7-0 (6-0): beat ND & Polk

2.) Notre Dame: 5-2 (4-1): beat Howard

3.) Howard: 5-2 (4-1): beat Polk

4.) Polk Co.: 5-2 (3-2)

5.) Sequoyah: 2-5 (2-3)

6.) East Ridge: 2-6 (2-4)

7.) McMinn Central: 2-5 (1-4)

8.) Grundy Co.: 2-5 (1-4)

9.) Tellico Plains: 2-6 (1-5)

Meigs Co. is the one team in 3A that I have to say is rolling under the radar unnoticed by most voters. They have have a great shot to really put a wrap on the region title this week against Howard. Notre Dame should get another win and put themselves in the playoffs this week against Tellico Plains. The final playoff spot from this region is at stake this week as suprising Sequoyah plays an always tough Polk Co. bunch.

Region 4-3A:

1.) Station Camp: 8-0 (4-0): beat Sycamore, Greenbrier, & Macon Co.

2.) Pearl Cohn: 5-3 (3-1): beat Sycamore & Macon Co.

3.) White House: 4-3 (2-1): beat Sycamore & Pearl Cohn

4.) Macon Co.: 3-4 (1-2): beat White House

4.) Greenbrier: 3-4 (1-2)

6.) Sycamore: 5-3 (1-3): beat Greenbrier

7.) DeKalb Co.: 1-6 (0-3)

Station Camp has garnered the respect of the voters as they are receiving some first place recognition. They are idle this week after locking up a playoff spot this past week. White House is a team that can get close to doing that very same thing this week against region doormat DeKalb Co. Greenbrier hosts Pearl Cohn in a game that they need to keep their playoff hopes alive. In an "elimination game" Sycamore travels to Macon Co.

Region 5-3A:

1.) Giles Co.: 7-0 (4-0)

2.) David Lipscomb: 6-1 (4-0)

3.) Marshall Co.: 3-5 (3-2): beat Creek Wood & Spring Hill

4.) Creek Wood: 3-4 (2-2): beat Page

5.) Spring Hill: 3-5 (2-3): beat Cheatham Co.

6.) Cheatham Co.: 2-5 (1-3): beat Marshall Co.

6.) Page: 2-5 (1-3); beat Marshall Co.

8.) Montgomery Central: 1-6 (0-4)

This region is on this line this week as well as Giles Co. plays David Lipscomb in a battle between Top Ten teams. Marshall Co. is currently in and they're idle this week. Spring Hill is also idle this week after keeping their playoff hopes alive this past week with a big region win. In the region's "playoff eliminator" Creek Wood plays Cheatham Co. in a must win game for both schools.

Region 6-3A:

1.) Jackson South Side: 7-0 (3-0): beat Fayette Ware

2.) Lexington: 4-3 (3-0): beat Bolivar & Liberty

3.) Fayette Ware: 5-2 (2-1): beat Liberty

4.) Bolivar: 4-3 (2-1)

5.) Liberty: 2-5 (2-2)

6.) McNairy Central: 1-6 (0-4)

7.) Chester Co.: 0-7 (0-4)

Region favorite South Side plays Liberty in a game this week that if they win then they're in. Lexington is on the exact same boat as they play McNairy Central. Fayette Ware and Bolivar are both currently in if the playoffs started today and they'll battle it out for possible seeding this upcoming week.

Region 7-3A:

1.) Crockett Co.: 7-0 (3-0): beat Dyersburg

2.) Dyersburg: 6-1 (3-1): beat Covington

3.) Covington: 6-1 (2-1)

4.) Ripley: 5-2 (1-2): beat Dyer Co.

5.) Haywood: 2-5 (1-2): beat Obion Co.

6.) Obion Co.: 4-3 (1-3): beat Dyer Co.

7.) Dyer Co.: 3-4 (1-3): beat Haywood

Crockett Co. can secure a playoff spot with a win this week over Dyer Co. combined with a Ripley loss to Covington. Dyersburg, fresh off of their big win over Covington, can clinch this week with the exact same combination as Crockett Co. Covington is in a "trap game" against playoff challenger Ripley this week. Slumping Obion Co. is out of the region this week against lowly Chester Co.

Region 8-3A:

1.) Sheffield: 5-2 (2-0): beat Trezevant

2.) Trezevant: 3-4 (2-1): beat Mitchell

3.) Mitchell: 7-1 (2-1)

4.) Frayser: 1-5 (0-2)

5.) Hillcrest: 1-6 (0-2)

Sheffield plays Mitchell this week in a game that will cap a completion to which team should win this region. Trezevant plays out of region this week against Memphis South Side. The fourth and final playoff spot will be at stake in this region this week as well when Hillcrest and Frayser finally play one another.

4.) Polk Co.: 5-2 (3-2)

5.) Sequoyah: 2-5 (2-3)

6.) East Ridge: 2-6 (2-4)

7.) McMinn Central: 2-5 (1-4)

8.) Grundy Co.: 2-5 (1-4)

4.) Macon Co.: 3-4 (1-2): beat White House

4.) Greenbrier: 3-4 (1-2)

6.) Sycamore: 5-3 (1-3): beat Greenbrier

So if this is how it plays out... Polk will travel to Station Camp????

If Polk Co. wins this week they'll likely travel to play the winner of next week's White House-Station Camp game to open the playoffs.

Why "likely"??????

If White House loses next week to Station Camp and Pearl Cohn is able to get back on track this week at Greenbrier then the Pearl Cohn at Station Camp game in week ten would be for the region title.

Big Country you really do your homework when it comes to football. I think Jackson Southside and Crockett County are the Wests best hopes to get to the ship this year.

I'll agree and you could very easily include both Dyersburg and Covington in that argument as well. Those four teams have what it takes to get to the 'Boro.

    • 20 but had 5-6 not dressed every game. It went down towards the end due to injuries and obviously only 15 got to dress for the state tournament. Then, they only lost 2 from this year and gain 8 from the middle school for next year
    • As somebody mentioned before, this is going to result in a massive lawsuit, can you imagine professional "educators" actually having the conversation about getting "the bad kids" out of the high school?  And the head coach asking directly to change grades, gets turned down, comes back again and gets it approved?  This is unbelievable.  In addition to the lawsuit, the state Department of Education is going to come down extremely hard on this.  WYSH is on the war path.  There could be dozens more lose their jobs by the time this is over.  And yeah the real shame is the kids being affected that literally had nothing to do with this and actually worked hard to earn their grades.
    • I've heard Powell from someone who talked to him. I saw the kid two days ago and I should of pulled over and talked with him and wished him well where ever he goes. It will be a ale of a loss for us because I don't believe we have anyone in the stable good as him from what I seen in the spring.
    • I would have to think that the firing of the 2 teachers is just the beginning of future moves.  If not, it is woefully short.  If the AC school board thinks that the damage is just limited to Clinton, they are sadly mistaken.  Any outsider would view the whole school system as suspect, and rightly so.
