I'd love to see someone from the all mighty Powell community first of all have confidence from coach lowe to line up from 40 yards and kick a field goal. Secondly, I'd like to see someone from Powell have confidence enough from his/her coach to line up at 56 yards and nail it with a few yards to spare. Thirdly, when Powell can line up a kicker at the 40 and him kick it through the uprights like O'connor can and his brother could, then come back and talk about kicking. As for you all who think O'Connor stinks because he had 2 field goals BLOCKED and missed one wide right into 30+mph winds blowing to his right and he shanked an extra point which happens ever now and then, quit talking about football and go watch underwater basket weaving. That's about all your worth. Can't wait to see Powell in the coming years at the bottom of the cellar. Good day

Wholeheartedly agree! Although Pf yaks like he does in part to try to tweak us, he does exhibit a fundamental misunderstanding of the game with comments like that. Don't forget the 46 yarder against Maryville and a couple more in the mid-40 yard range. I'll be sorry to see O'Kicker leave.

O'Kicker is wow!!!

Halls will really miss him next year. He has been a offensive weapon kicking field goals. But his punting and kickoffs have been nothing short of excellent also.

Losing O'Kicker will be a huge loss. Who do we have waiting in the wings?

O'Kicker has been a pleasure to watch the last 4 years. We will really miss him next year.

I hate to bring this up, but I figured some Halls hater would. When was the last time Halls was completely eliminated from the playoffs? As far back as I can remember ('96), we had a chance depending on the last game or two. But I don't know before then.

Now lets win Friday, regroup over the winter and get ready for another big year next year!! Good luck.

Good to have you on board as a stablizing affect for our Powell brothers who constantly try to get a big rise out of us.

Powell will have some lean times ahead and they won't be so frisky next year but even though they taunt us unmercifully this year we won't be football fodder next year.

Warm Moonpies not a bad idea.

Have the concessions director mark that down. :(

It could be the difference between a 4-6 season and a 5-5.

Senior night, Homecoming, Football, Moonpies & RCs not a bad way to spend a friday evening.

I think that both Powell and Halls are in for some hard times the next season or two. As good as Maryville, Central, and West will be next season, the fight will be for 4th. Powell will lose everything on offense, and a lot on defense. I don't expect Powell to make the playoffs in 2007. Halls loses O'Kicker, but does return a lot of young starters. I'm still not sold on the talent of the offense, but again, they are young, and we won't know anything until next August.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
