I went to the Red Bank/Hixson game last night. WOW!!! I had to hit the head @ halftime, so I was in the restroom and in case you didnt know this, Hixson's lockerroom is just behind the wall. Hixson's Football players were screaming Red Bank to a rhythm, over and over. So I walked outside, and five or six senior football players had just walked off and quit the team. There coach was being threatened by parents and police officers had to escort people out of there. I went to the game with a Hixson Alum and I felt so sorry for him. What is going on over there?????

I wasn't there so I have to take your word for it. If all of that is true, it sounds like a serious lack of discipline.........on the parents' part too (sounds like trashy people to me). I guess Hixson's football team talked the talk (ala halftime chant), but forgot to walk the walk?

Do you or anyone know why those seniors just left? I've heard of people quitting during the middle of the season, but never during the middle of the game. Thats really unbelievable.

I have a lot of respect for HIXSONS coach. The fact that they did have problems Friday night stems from the coach trying to make players act right and do the right thing and a group of parents resisting his efforts. If a student athlete has to be disiplined for inappropriate behaviour and that punishment is missing a game or sitting out half the game then he has no one to blame but himself, its a life lesson to build on. If parents make a fuss about it then they are not contibuting to the education process only hendering it and they need to realize that athletics are a part of high school experience and cetainly not the center of it. They need to keep their athletic careers in perspective. Five years after high school no one cares what kind of player you were.

This is a fact, parents that think their kids are victims when they get in trouble at school are misguided. Teachers have much more important things to do all day then try and give students a hard time for nothing. If your kid is continualy getting inot trouble at school then the problem is probably not with the teachers.

I hadn't heard of what happened during halftime but I do know several key Hixson seniors were suspended for the 1st quarter of the game Friday..I can very easily see one of the kids parents having choice words with a coach during halftime..I'm not saying this is right because I dont believe it is I'm just saying I could see a parent doing this because of the easy access to the players & coaches.. It needs to be more like college ball in the aspect that coaches play whomever they think is best and if those kids parents dont like the way things are handled then theyy can leave!

2 seniors were suspended for the 1st half until they put themselves in. They got that suspension for a detention after missing only 10 minutes of the last class of the day after a field trip to a local college. This was the first suspension of the year for anyone getting a detention, and these 2 players didn't know how long they were suspended for, so they took matters into their own hands. In addition to these 2 walking off, 1 other senior walked off, but he came back, and played in the 2nd half. If you want to attack our class, get to know our team. Anything can be said and done in the heat of the moment, and of course seniors are going to want to play on their senior night. I'm a senior on this team, and i'm not saying what happenend was right, but i stand by my teammates at all times.

Since you voluntarily posted your account on Coach T, and since you were there, would you tell us football fans wnat you meant that some of your players "put themselves in"? You are in a position to explain a lot of things--were parents at/in the dressing room? And what about the chant?. Help us to "get to know your team," as you phrased it. The truth from someone who was there will be better than rumors.

Here is what I speculate happened to get the players in trouble and since you were not with the players when it happened then what you say is also speculation.

Here goes, the players are a little late someone quizes them about there tardiness and they give a lot of attitude or RUNNING THEIR MOUTH. Thats what probably got them in trouble.

About entering the game. No player takes it upon themselves to enter the game. The coach tells the players when to enter the game.

I have watched several of your games this year. Hixson had good enough players and COACHES to make the playoffs.

Coach Windom has enough experience and knowledge of the game to coach a good team to the state title and a bad team into the playoffs. If you and your players had got with the program then ya'll might be playing Friday night.

I respect coach Windom for trying to teach his players some personal responsibility but, it seems you want to lay the blame on someone other than yourself.

Thats a fine ending to your careers.

GO WILDCATS

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
