How good do you think south greene will be this year? With the loss of Kyle Donahue, the top scorer in the conference and in east tennesse, and the loss of 3 other starters, (Shane Roth, Bryan Wright, and Darius Hoese) what should we expect from Coach Hoese's boys this year?

I think you will see a good defensive of team, and alot of hussle of his guys, but may struggle at the offensive side. Expect to see a few more losses this year from the rebels than last year.

Sorry to say I don't see them winning half their games now or anytime in the near future!! Poor Mark is not going to enjoy his senior season in BB I am afraid. Well tennis will be here before long, hang in there Mark!!!

:D I think your being a little hard on the REBELS They will win more than half of their games, also they might be the team to watch when tourney time rolls in. Mark will enjoy his senior year!

I really hope you are right for the kids sake but if I am playing against them I take Marc away with defense and dare the rest of them to score!! B)

They ought to be pretty descent, they have alot of young talent though like Shawn Martin, Cameron Keller, Seth Bragdon.....so on they have about 6 or 7 sophmores that would play varsity for about any other division 2 team in east tennessee.

You are joking right?? The tallest boys on the team have a vertical leap of about 2.5 inches and the guys you named are decent athletes but not one of them is near the six foot mark. Sorry but I just don't see it happening for ya!! None of these guys are shooters and they were drivers in elementary school. That won't be to :blink: o easy in the tall timber at the high school level. Good luck with that.

sorry but your crazy, those kids are decent ball players but would come nowhere close to playing at the varsity level, they still have alot of work to do

Keller is pretty good either driving or shooting, Martin is an athlete, Period. If he or someone can keep his head on straight he will be pretty darn good, he can jump out of the gym and he has been working on his jump shot. I think baseball might be both of these boys better sport but they are pretty good. I think South Greene will have a decent year, nothing like last year but they will be alright. I think next year might be better than this one they do have a few sophomores who will be pretty good including the two mentioned above.

Volunteerfan i think it would be hard for any south greene team to do as good as last year. they would have to bring their A game every night and i dont think anyone will step up like donahue did last year. i think marc has the potential but he cant just take a game over like donahue could. wouldn't you agree? I can't see anyone from South Greene even going, let alone playing for a Division 2 team, considering it costs 'bout $15,000 to go to one of those schools :(

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
