Coach Williams and coach Greene are doing a tremendous job at Liberty. In today's time where so much emphasis is put on individual play and not on winning, coach Williams and coach Greene are teaching these kids how to be winners. Let's face it, everyone says that the rankings are overrated. That is true rankings is not the measuring stick for how good a team is. However rankings are based on winning, losing and exposure. Teams get less exposure when they are losing, and no one talks about second best. Great job coach Williams and coach Greene. :thumb:

I hear so much about the lousy coaching in West TN but Ralph Turner at Union is changing all this and Dexter Williams is living proof of his work.

There are four measures I always apply to a team to determine if they are well-coached. They must play hard, play smart, play together, and play to win. Dexter's teams embody these characteristics and are always tough to beat. He is an excellent young coach. There are many fine coaches in West Tennessee...both young and old, who stress fundamentals, character and sportsmanship and are fine teachers of the game. And YES contrary to some posters, several of these coaches are working in Memphis!

Who are you talking about? Correct me if I am wrong but hasn't West. TN completely dominated high school basketball the past 5 or 6 years. I doubt Ralph Turner, as good of a coach as he is, had much of an influence over Rick Rudesill, Shane Sisco, Larry Smalley, etc... These are just a few of the coaches in West TN that have had the good fortune of winning a gold ball in the past few years.

No...I would say all that talent had an influence over Rudesill, Sisco and Smalley.

How many coaches do you know that have talented teams and fumble and bumble a season away because they can't discipline or teach them to play as a team. I would catagorize the coaches you mentioned as excellent coaches...even if they did have talent to work with. And by the way...who do you think developed that talent, some AAU coach?

I agree with you jumpshot. Example of great talent with terrible coaching. Terry Hill Northside High school. His talent was second to none in 2004 & 2005, but he was a terrible coach. ;)

    • Wiz, could you kindly inquire of MP whether my pork shoulder has completed its duration in the smoker? My appetite has been piqued, and I eagerly await its readiness. Regrettably, it appears that despite my attempts at communication, there has been no response forthcoming from him.
    • Given your evident depth of knowledge on coaching matters, I'm intrigued to hear your perspective on who you believe would be the most suitable candidate for the position.
    • If he’s the best option that isn’t good. I heard he couldn’t even get the qb to play baseball this year.  kids aren’t coming out for him either he’s in the same boat. But it’s trousdale county and it’s just baseball. You can win one game a year same goes for basketball no one will even kno or talk about it. Just like up here on the hill basketball is the more serious thing in my books if you start losing there’s usually some change..
    • I live in Macon and watched both but I’ll take up for satterfield on this one look at the dudes he has these 2 years compared to the others don’t forget we barely even scored on them there for awhile when he started coaching there just look at 2018 on   If you give him athletes to play with he’s a dangerous d c.
    • I don’t know how Huntingdon did vs Creekwood varsity today but I did hear the Huntingdon middle school girls beat Creekwood and Westview JV teams by 30 both games today.
