District 9A - Friday night - Dec. 8th

First of all congrats to the rockets. I can't remember the last time we were beaten by 20 points, Probably more than 3 year. VB is better than we showed last night we were flat from the beginning. I don't know where our defense was, and I have never seen as many balls fly off of players heads as I did last night. Not saying we would have won just would have been better competition. Cascade probably is better than they showed as well. I could be wrong but Ireally think it will be a tight District in the end. I wouldn't count any of the early favorites out at this point. By the way Eagleville looks pretty tough so far.

 

 

Coming off of Christmas break everyone seems to find their rhythm and rotation and that is when things start heating up and getting interesting.

Actually i dissagree with that... Sometimes or alot teams peak at the beginning of the season.. I def don't think that most teams find there groove... Even good teams sometime find it a struglle to stay in focus and on point, i think the best coached teams light it up after christmas...

I think both of you guys have some points.....coaching is part of it, the players are part of it and LUCK is a huge part of it. You have to be lucky to keep everybody healthy and distraction free- if that is possible to do with high school guys. I have a hard enought time keeping them focussed in my classroom, I can't imagine what the coaches must go through. Anyway, I think that each team is it's own unique animal and has its own chemistry, some peek early and some late. I asked Coach Pope and Coach Edmondson the other night what they thought and they both agree you want to be playing your best ball late in the year. Also, I think that Eagleville, Forrest, Van Buren and Cascade will beat up on each other and before the season is out they will probably be all contending for the championship for the district but you have to tip your hat to Forrest and Eagleville right now because they are playing good basketball. I agree with the top four teams in the district right now. We are improving every game and our last game has been our best yet. I know we have some AAA games coming up this weekend. I hope it helps us more than it hurts us. I know it is good to play teams better than you but it seems like the last round at the La Vergne tournament we lost our grove and have just now gotten back.
