news sentinel prep extra?

Why hasn't the news sentinel had any prep extra coverage since football has ended. They didn't miss a week for 15 straight weeks during football season and I haven't seen anything on basketball since football ended? Does anyone know what the deal is? Why no basketball stats or coverage?

Sorry Newspaper! Sports section covers High School football. After that other sports get little if any coverage. Did you see the pitifull pre season coverage for basketball. Probably not because it was one page for both boys and girls. The prep x tra will start in a couple of weeks I would say but the coverage will not be as good as it was for football.

 

If the media outlets would start pushing High School basketball and give it the same coverage as football it could be just as big.

I guess you are right....typical news sentinel coverage.....weak. Maybe they will pick it up. There are some good teams and good players in this area that they can cover. It is a shame other sports don't get the print space football does. Maybe if Hartmann's son played basketball they would put more than box scores in the paper

I'm not satisfied with the treatment that basketball and every other sport besides football gets from prepxtra. However, I do understand that strain in covering twice as many teams with 3 times as many games. I'm sure alot also depends on how cooperative the coaches are in turning in stats. I would like to see a few more articles in the paper concerning basketball teams. :angry:

      Tough situation.  Not sure the ROI is there right now.   Might be better options that are cheaper.

      Yeah summer ball is really fun, but a lot of coaches are trying to play several kids to get much needed reps that they are not accustomed to. I would imagine Gibson County will have lots of players playing to get much needed reps. Want to win games but got to get experience as well and the rotation will be much deeper. I will be at MTSU, UTM Bethel and others. MTSU is the one I really look forward to.

      Its always interested to see the state teams the following summer after losing or not losing seniors and getting freshman and transfers. It's almost time.

      Maryville has Alcoa on the schedule at the right time of the season which helped last year instead of at the first of the year not knowing much. West will be hard pressed to repeat this year but next will be a different story.
