Central's guards did struggle and Williams was not very involved in the offense. What year is Meeks for Smyrna? Her 3's in the 3rd quarter were big in getting Smyrna a little breathing room.

I could be wrong but WC's guards do not match up well with their inside play. All players are great. i would say that Smyrna's guard play matched up with WC guard play and maybe was able to throw a wrench in the execution. These teams know each other well and their players compete with each other informally in the summer. Pollock and Borroughs play on the same team and they know each others game very well. The same is true with the other WC player mentioned but she is a year younger so there is no doubt that Pollock knew her game also. When you practice and play against each other as much as some of these players do at other times, surprises may occur and is the reason Smyrna is playing well along with some very good players and fine coaching.

Still plenty of basketball to be played. My old high school coach said "In Tennessee you can beat'em and beat'em and beat'em and beat'em and still not get rid of them. McGavock and old North HS is a prime example. North won four straight but, lost the fifth game in the championship of the state tournament. McGavock state champions, North HS a footnote in history.

Same thing happened to Columbia a few years back with White County winning the championship after having lost to Columbia 3 times before the final. It is really a crazy system, but it's what we have to live with for now.

    • Wow, that really stinks. I hate that for you guys.
    • Not sure what you mean? 40 TOTAL? Macon is a good team no doubt, but I believe they've only scored 35 total points against Uppeeman the last two years, and that's over three games.
    • This scenario resonates with the dynamics observed in my hometown of Hartsville. The undue influence of politics on high school sports remains a pervasive issue, detracting from the integrity of athletic programs.  The proliferation of individuals driven by a thirst for power inevitably precipitates the downfall of any program. It appears that we are currently grappling with similar challenges akin to those faced by Greenback. Please accept my condolences for your ordeal.
    • From what we are hearing on the reservation we will be lucky to beat sunbright. And trust me I am not throwing stones at them because they play their hearts out. It’s a tuff game every year, just like Oakdale but when you have small numbers that’s what you get. And then you add in that you loose two top linemen and the starting qb!!!! Along with a running back!  We are in deep trouble.
    • The coach's departure ensued due to the absence of backing from the board members, compounded by the unsettling revelation that one board member persistently surveilled him, verging on conduct akin to harassment. Furthermore, it appears that meeting the expectations of this community remains an unattainable feat, as even a hypothetical scenario of clinching five consecutive state championships would likely not suffice to quell discontent. The current situation is fraught with complications, primarily stemming from applicants for the position who have cultivated relationships with board members known to have opposed the former coach.
