I don't think it's Lipscomb people making excuses. The starters were there, they just didn't have a great game. MLK did a good job and played hard and after 2 really intense games the Mustangs didn't have enough gas in the tank. These 2 teams could have some exciting games at the end of the season. It would be great if everyone can go into the home stretch feeling healthy and strong. This district is exciting with a lot of fun match ups.

Ditto! These teams typically match-up pretty well. Any given night.

Showboating ...in my few viewings - yes! Like I said, if a coach is okay with it...that's fine. I just do not personally like it. Plenty of folks do, and you know what...that's basketball. I've seen Robinson play many times over the years. Incredible player (one of the best all around players I have seen). ENJOY watching him in AAU and travel ball!! Just not in HS. Personal preference...I'm not a hater...just saying I don't watch them and was admitting my limited knowledge on that specific game as a result.

yea, doc doesnt allow any player to showboat, he does it all himself. Dont want the players taking the spotlight away from the most over rated coach in Tennessee.

Tell me how he is over rated as a coach? He has two state championships. He consistently has his teams in the Buro at the state tourney. Sounds to me like someone has sour grapes.

Unfortunately all you get to see is the Doc you see at the games. Would I do some things different, yes, but its not about me. Give 'props' to Gerald, Josh, and all other players on their respective teams. Its nice to have a rivalry that when the game is over you walk out with respect and no incidents. I will take that anyday. When you play sports you play through adversity regardless of what it is.

I can say one thing with Doc and Coaches Sizemore, Martin, Evett, and Roberts, they command respect and discipline and the players respond. Just from my observation, I believe Lipscomb has a similar program.

About Doc being overrated, as was stated, when you have 2 State championships under your belt, thats a hard feat. To make it more amazing, MLK does not have feeder schools, nor can you move an any area to go to MLK, you have the carry a certain GPA and pass with advanced scores on the TCAP in get in. I say this to say, Doc, and his staff, have taken guys who have never played basketball prior to coming to MLK, as well as those who have, and made decent ball players with them. Do you know how hard that is when you are playing your Lipscombs, FRA, Pearl-Cohn, etc.. Only this year was Nashville School of Arts allowed to play and we only have one on the varsity (and he does not play) and one on the freshman team. You may not like Doc's antics, but don't say he does not reserve his respect for what he has done. That's all.

I have not seen Robinson this year, did last year. I didn't see that much showboating.

i will agree that doc is eccentric as they come, don't pretend to understand him. almost bobby knight like in that he seems to have the love-hate thing going on with my way or highway. one thing you can't say is that he is over-rated, anyone that won 2 state titles and fell short state a couple of years ago against bolivar with chism, kemp and kemp and mlk had johnny lee a 5-6" floor leader who had some guts, clarence smith and some other guys who filled roles.

I will say i've seen Slater a couple of times this year and he does as much showboating as i saw out of robinson last year.

I will say i have this lipscomb team is a little looser coached than previous, i never recall them ever doing clear outs and going 1 on 1 or even wearing sweatbands etc. Nothing wrong with any of it, but you can tell that things have changed from the old school mustangs from a few years ago.
