marching wise :honestly riverdales band isnt that bad. also how would you really know how good blackmans band is considering they DONT COMPETE?? honetly from a marchers frame of mind and knowledge riverdales band is better that blackmans. blackman's shows are crowd pleasers. easy loud music. anyone with their numbers can do it. riverdale has shows that they want to take to a competition. they see half time performances as a practice run for competitions, as does any abnd that competes.

concert wise: blackman has a great concert band as does riverdale. thursday and friday i was actyally participating in all-couny band and there were numerous kids from both schools showing that they are both full of great musicians.

as for this topic i wonder why most local people see things in this light. they see blackman as awesome and riverdale as not so awesome. they are both concerned with differn things.

well my mom was in a band in lousiana and every time that the Riverdale band takes the field she has to leave because if she didnt then she would prob puke becasue they are not in step and she tells me all of the small stuff that she notices.

and when she is trying to watch my play she says that the band is cutting up and not even watching the game

Riverdale band made the final round at the APSU competition...didn't finish as high as Lavergne but at least made the finals which smyrna did not. The Riverdale band improved greatly during the fall. They are not Overton or Lavergne but they are decent.

Blackman band plays music that middle school bands could easily do. They play cheap 1970's polyester leisure suit disco. Rock Springs Middle (on the Smyrna/Lavergne border) does college level music compared to BHS. BHS doesn't go to competitions. They sound like a karaoke nightmare from he!! in the stands when they let that "singer" try to sing along to Bon Jovi, etc... I actually feel sorry for that band.

There was a post on here last fall that several of the more serious musicians in Blackman's band wanted to transfer to LaVergne so they could finally play real music and compete.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
