Sequoyah beat Anderson County 2-0, Beat oliver springs 1-0, and beat Oneida 2-0.

It was really good to win all 3 games, and even better not to beat scored on. Oliver springs game was odd. I figured we'd beat them nicely, but it took a 35-40 yard shot in the last ten minutes. There an improving team.

A few other games i know of... Tellico lost badly to pigeon forge, 6-0 from what i heard. Central beat rhea, Oliver beat central.

There were some really fun games to watch up their.

And got to see what silverdale has to offer for tommorow.

Edit: Just noticed you said silverdale played loudon first... That's a tough way to start a program off.

QUOTE(cooke7 @ Mar 6 2007 - 03:36 PM) 826402406[/snapback]my opinion on the scrimmages we have played is that they can't really show anything. we've played 3 30minute periods in which we sub in the younger players throughout. varsity doesn't really see the field after the first thirty minutes. how does this help a coach or more importantly how does it help a team to get the feel for a real game. these scrimmages determine close to nothing. it's in the later part of the game where u find out what a team is made of. who's got more stamina and who's willing to give it the extra push when they are worn out and ready to call it quits. the coffee county tourney was ridiculous. they were twenty minute games. the semi finals and finals were two ten minute halves. what good does it do a team to play these short games? they don't get the opportunity to push themselves that final twenty or so minutes. so what good are these scrimmages unless you play them with a more realistic time span

Just a suggestion...play every minute like it's the last 20. If you start out intense and play hard all the way thru you should get some benefit from short games. It's a bit like a miler saying what good is a 100 yd sprint...the answer is not very good if you run it at a miler's pace. Adapt to your circumstances, adjust to your surroundings, and make every minute you play the best you can.

    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
    • Hopefully you’re not signing off for good. There are a lot of Oak Ridge fans that appreciate your comments.
    • Florida tried urban/rural split two years ago. 4 urban classes, 4 rural classes. Didn’t work. Next year they will have 7 regular classes, 1 urban class for small schools only.
