Why was there no MVP award for this Region ? I was interested to see who would get this award.

There has not been a Region MVP for several years now......totally the coaches choice.

the key is that they make the coaches turn ballots in at halftime

 

i'll leave the names out of this story to protect the individuals and schools

 

if i remember correctly, about 10-12 years ago the coaches turned their ballots in and voted in a girl who was having a good first half and her team was up a basket

 

then a player on the other team absolutely exploded in the second half, scoring and rebounding and purely dominating

 

that player's team took the lead and coasted to about a 20-pt win

 

well the losing team's fanbase had mostly departed and they awarded the region MVP to the player on the runner-up.

 

the winning team's crowd (who were all pretty much still there) show zero class and booed the girl unmercifully and at length, to the point of tears

 

next year the region MVP was scrapped as an award

 

sad really as there are possible workarounds, but it is what it is
