  1. I believe the year was 1996 my friend......the only time Westview has brought home the gold ball.
  2. Actually wescharge is coming over and we're going to relive the glory days.............
  3. When will this game be on TV? Does anybody know? Thanks.
  4. New school, Mr. Rat........no horns during play, but they have added 21st century special effects sound system, which is sort of neat.
  5. Add to UT-Martin...... Matrieka Minter, 5'10" Guard/Forward. Bolivar Central; Perica Glenn, 6'0" Post, Milan HS
  6. Two things........ 1. Not a single "shoe" team I know has "earned" that distinction.........it has come by pure politics, the origin being Shelbyville years ago. The reason that the shoe teams have gotten to be so far reaching..(Wash DC, NY, etc.) is because more and more parents are seeing through the BS that these guys shovel. Look at what Memphis Elite have done in the last few years in AAU, they have won back to back National Championships without a shoe deal and with almost entirely TN kids. 2. Money is what is ruining AAU pure and simple........the folks in the AAU National office are doing their best to ruin AAU period. Bobby (the Swoosh) Dodd, Eddie (the Boo Williams whippin boy) Clinton and folks don't give a flip nickel about the kids anymore, all they want to do is cater to these folks who think they are the only ones that need to be fielding teams. They are in it for a paycheck. I wintessed that first hand this summer. Peanut is one of the best in the business and hopefully he will be able to make some changes to enhance Tennessee AAU in the future.
  7. You know ptguard the thing is I called them a week before the tournament and told them about the potential for conflicts. There were over 10 teams that were in the silver showcase and the national tournament and so it wasn't just us. The bottom line is that they cater to the "gold" division because those are "shoe teams" and could care less about everyone else. Now I'm done........I'll let the next group of folks worry about this.
  8. Congrats to Memphis and the Lady Dawgz on a great tournament. Now that's over.......... AAU will have to change alot of things before I ever give them another dime of my money. They completely butchered the Silver Showcase deal and the best Mr. CIM could say was "they just didn't think there would be any conflicts". In other words, they are complete idiots. Eddie and company have no idea what the crap is going on. When I started going to 16u nationals, it was well organized and well run, but not anymore. They need new leadership down there in the worst way, as i have said before, they have lost touch with the folks that have supported them all these years. Hopefullly someone that went to Salem or Little Rock will say that those were well run tournaments and help restore my faith. "'Hello Curly.........."
  9. ESPN's "Hoopgoob's" list is just as bad as Bolus's..........the lists are all about the ties you have to AAU/Travel clubs and has very little to do with the kind of player you are. Ask all the high school coaches and 90% of them will tell you they have never been contacted about any of the so-called "experts" about their players. Everyone in the women's game has gotten all caught up in the "Hoopgoobs"/Ratings hoopla and forgotten that there are good players all across the state. There are kids in Bolus's top 10 that Hoopgoobs doesn't even rate. The ratings don't mean much in my opinion. Just my two cents worth........
  10. I agree.........the main problem is that TN AAU is run by folks who don't even participate in AAU events anymore. Give control back to the folks that have supported AAU for years. However, change also needs to happen at the National level as well. Bobby Dodd and Eddie Clinton are completely clueless when it comes to local AAU. Robpride, hello from Orlando. Your girl is doing great, we appreciate you letting us have her this year. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  11. A member of the UTM Skyhawk Club will be contacting you in the next week for you to open that checkbook........... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> Now that this is been announced, let me say that Monday will bring the end to UTM being the doormat of West Tennessee and the OVC in womens basketball. It will be a long road with alot of work but it will get done and get done the right way, hopefully sooner than later.
  12. "There are other facts less than 10 people will ever know." - sls There has never been a more accurate statement posted on coacht............ /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  13. Larue will do great things at OCCHS if the folks will let him........he is one of the best in the business. I'm not available, but Joe Quincy might be........ /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  14. If I were guessing, I would say "family"........this district requires alot of time and effort by coaches and at least this year, each one that has gotten out has small children at home. Coach Suiter said his was totally for this reason and I wouldn't be suprised if Volbert (who did it all alone, by the way) didn't get out for the same reason.
  15. While elitebball and I disagree on a lot of things, this is a good post. We too tried the Flight partnership once and it just didn't work. The Flight are what they are, a top level NATIONAL exposure club. We are not, we try to focus on mostly regional kids who want to play college somewhere, some D1, some not. My only complaint about the whole situation is that there are still some folks in this for reasons other than helping the kids. Most of the ills of AAU would be solved if the ones doing the griping would get involved in the decision making process, I myself don't have time to do that and as a result, I don't complain much. (except to elitebball, haha) I think there needs to be a division between AAU and exposuure teams, period. Do one or the other, but not both. However, the powers in Florida at AAU headquarters think otherwise and that my friends is why AAU is in alot of trouble. Just my humble 2 cents worth.
  16. Thanks to Peanut for all your hard work and dedication.........folks, this is simple. The shoe companies destroyed the boys AAU and have succeeded in doing the same in the women's game.
  17. No chance........ /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  18. Forward all comments to Phil Dane, Director of Athletics, UT-Martin, Martin, TN 38238. no other comments at this time........ /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
  19. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  20. I'll do my best........ /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  21. Said it once on another thread but I'll repeat it here............UTM JOB WILL NOT BE OPEN THIS YEAR!
  22. They should hire Paige McMillan...........boy would those games be great ones to watch...... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  23. I think Brandi did a good job with them this year in a difficult situation.....wonder if she will be the permanent replacement?? They will be loaded next year.
