  1. Any official word yet on who the new coach is going to be?
  2. Man, I thought these were opinions. I did not know I had to see the game like Jimbo. We are from different areas. The game in the west is played with full court pressure, lots of points off turnovers, and the three ball. As a matter of fact I have seen hundreds of games and some do run a lot of sets and some create with their guards. The post was how has the game changed. Not everyone is running the flex, or UCLA. I agree defense wins, always has and always will, but that is not how the game has changed. The shot clock comment was my opinion. I would like to see the game played faster, like college. Especially after seeing 8-4 games and teams that hold the ball for 1:00 +, and scores in the 20's. I also did not mean coaches are babysitters, although I know many coaches who are that, as well as dads, and mentors, and motivators. Like it has been said the one thing that has been constant in the game is defense. Defense in the half court and full court, but mainly the half court. All teams who go to the Boro can play great D.
  3. Players today are more physical than in years past. Also, the three point shot has become much more of an offensive focus. The game is played faster, but I would still like to see a shot clock. I think a shot clock would make it easier for the officials. Take away the 10 second call and 5 second call. The game is becoming more one on one and a game of mismatches, it seems to be create for your team and not as much screening anymore A coach these days is asked to be more of a motivator, although fundamentals and discipline are huge. Just my thoughts
  4. What is the time table for getting someone in place? I figure it will be quick, school starts soon. Has anyone heard anymore names.
  5. Gleason should be the cream of the crop in 13A, but you can't over look the loss of the straw that stirred the drink. I don't care that they did not lose a player, they lost a more vital piece. They will lose a couple games that they would not normally lose just because of that. Mckenzie will be strong as most of the starters return, Dresden lost alot with their point guard and the post player. I look for it to be 1. Gleason 2. Mckenzie 3. Dresden 4. West Carroll
  6. Is there any word on who the new coach might be?
  7. Coaching had something to do with Gibson County. I will guarantee you that. It may not have been the head man, but I guarantee the man who is his assisstant had a little to do with it. I still think this last title was #6 for Russell.
  8. You can also add gleason to the list. Coach Frazier will be taking over as Weakley County director of schools.
  9. Hmmm... What are the chances a Charger goes home?
  10. As I have said in another post. It is difficult to fire your only woman coach, especially when you are being sued by a former woman coach for discrimination. Yes, it is time for a change but the UTM brass may not be willing to try it just yet.
  11. Yeah, bad time to fire your only woman coach. Especially when you are in the middle of being sued by a former coach over discrimination. Listen to NSHD, he knows what he is talking about.
  12. Where there is smoke, there is always fire. I don't even live in Gibson County and have heard both of those "rumors". Remember also that not to long ago baseball players said, "I never used steriods."
  13. I think NSHD will be staying where he is right now. I can see them being back next year where their season ended. They will be a very good team next year but the bad thing is they may still be the 2nd best team in their district.
  14. I would think you would want a younger coach, not a brand new. It would be good to get someone who you know would be a solid foundation and stick around for a while. I would think someone who has worked at the high school level already would be a plus, maybe an assistant to some of these great coaches in West Tennessee. Or, you could go the route and get a proven winner and an assistant that would be in line to take over.
  15. Is the school going to open up and accept students in grades 9 - 12 or are they going to just be opening up for like freshman and sophomores this year, then adding a class every year. I hope whoever reads this understands what I am talking about. GC Pioneer, you seem pretty knowledgeable. Who are the front runners or are there any? What about a certain assistant coach moving to the new school. Is there any chance of that happening?
