Spring Hill had a game stopped for rain after 4 complete innings leading 6-0. This was a district game. They are playing the the team again tommorrow. Should this game be resumed at the top of the 5th, or should the game be restarted and make it a double header at there place?????? You can guess what they want to do /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

QUOTE(greenwheel @ Apr 18 2007 - 08:08 PM) 826440640[/snapback]I'd think the game would have been ruled a complete game. But I'm not sure it's going to matter anyway you go.

National Federation Rule 4-2

article 2

If a game ends because of weather conditions, or darkness intereferes with play so that the game is called by the umpire, it is a regulation game provided:

a. five full innings have been played; or if the home team has scored an equal or greater number of runs in four or four and a fraction turns at bat than the visiting team has scored in five turns.

article 3

A state association may adopt game-ending procedures that determine how games are ended, including suspended games. However, if a state association does not have established game-ending procedures, by mutual agreement of the opposing coaches and the plate umpire, any remaining play may be shortened at any time or the game terminated.

article 4

If a game is called before completion of the number of innings and conditions specified in 4-2-2, the umpire shall declare the contest "no game", unless play is terminated by 4-2-3.

Looks like here you start the game over, "no contest"

I saw this come up in a game last year. As per TSSAA rules: during regular season play, unless both head coaches agree to pick up where the game left off, it must be replayed regardless of how many innings have been played. Regulation II. E:

"In regular-season play, a suspended game shall be considered as no game and may be replayed unless the coaches of both teams mutually agree to continue the game from the point of suspension. In tournament play, a suspended game shall be continued from the point of suspension"

Each district can decide before the season starts how to deal with their own district games. In 4AAA, the coaches have voted to suspend any district game that is shortened before the game is official. Therefore, we pick up the game right where we left off...same lineup, score, etc. I personally do not like the way we do it, but the majority of coaches in our district wanted to adopt this plan.
