After 3 big emotional games and the heartbreaking loss to Kingston and the big win that OS had over Coalfield what's everybodys take on this game. I hope the tigers don't let all the fun of homecoming week take their minds off this key district game because the cats always play us tough!! If they get distracted this could be another heartbreaker. Normally I would say this would be a walk in the park for Webbs boys after the way the've looked against their other opponents but this is a fired up OS team and they would love to come into Rockwood and spoil the tigers homecoming.KEEP FOCUSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that "Bear" Bryant Allen is the coach for his girlfriends powder puff game..Better be careful #44 because after hearing her deep voice cheering at the sweetwater game I think she could probably take you. Can we sign her up for Fridays game against the cats?

As a neutral observer in this one, I would pick Rockwood simply because they have played a tougher schedule and with one exception have been victorious at it. Oliver Springs is not nearly playing at the level that Rockwood is and even their win last week wasnt anything to brag about. Beating Coalfield this year is not a BIG win. In fact its hardly worth mentioning other than padding the record with a W. Gone are the players that made the yellow jackets the great team that they were. Enough said there, but I would pick Rockwood.

I am not sure which county game I am going to watch this week. Kingston/AC is going to be a good one. So I dont know if I will travel to Rockwood again this week or make a trip elsewhere. Kingston has a killer schedule remaining and I hate to say it, but I fully expect them to lose to AC, Fulton, AE, and Catholic and not make the playoffs. Oliver Springs is going no where either but Rockwood has picked up a huge win over Sweetwater and if they can beat Loudon or CAK (or both) they could be in line for second place in the district. I am sure Rockwood fans dont want to concede the Alcoa game without a fight but I just dont see it working out as a Rockwood W. Harriman is improving each week but their youth and inexperience will be their undoing. Look for Midway to make a run in the playoffs. They have lots of speed and talent for a single A program and should make some waves (pardon the pun) come post season. Overall, this is not looking like the best year for Roane County football as a whole but we county fans can still hope (the season is still young).

Also, after watching Midway, Rockwood, and Kingston and talking to Harriman buddies and Oliver Springs fans, I am amazed at slimpikins comment about his (i am assuming he is a rockwood fan) qb. You have the best in the county and one of the best in east tennessee! Until the offense was opened up Rockwood was looking like the same ole predictable offense that ppl were loading the box with and stuffing the run and holding the tigers to low scoring tight games (can you say Oneida?). But once they turned their passing game loose, the tiger offense has carried the team! The defense is still struggling and will struggle all year from what I have seen. The best offensive teams on the schedule havent been played yet. If it werent for the tiger passing game, teams would be loading up, stuffing the middle and crushing the run game and Rockwood would be in trouble. Four td passes in the first half killed Midway. Big passes against Sweetwater kept drives alive that would have otherwise died. And the Kingston comeback was sparked by drive that was all passes except a qd sneak for a td that got the tigers back in the game! Obviously slimpikins has an ax to grind against his guy or he knows nothing about football. Either way, he doesnt see the same games I have watched. Of course, I will give him this, I watch as an uncommitted fan, I am there for the love of the game, he may be a tiger fan and sees with his heart rather than his eyes. But your qb is the difference maker in your lineup. Take him out and all you have is a ground game that Kingston stuffed most of the night.

And speaking of that, several tiger fans have complained to me this week that they received some bad calls in the Kingston game. I have not seen that mentioned on here. But I heard on the Kingston interception in the end zone where the tiger receiver appeared to be in position to catch the game winning td and slipped. That he was pushed down by a kingston db in the back. I have heard that #4 caught a possible touchdown and had the ball stripped from his hand but then recaught it lying on the ground in the end zone with the ball never touching the ground. One guy who was standing on the fence in the end zone is swearing the ball never touched! Has anyone else heard this or is that just spilt milk?

HSsportznut I heard the same thing about the call on #4s catchin the endzone. I talked to some people standing where they had a clear view and they said it was on his leg and he caught it before it ever hit the ground. One was from a Kingston fan who said he was glad the ref made the wrong call but Rockwood really got robbed of the touchdown. Its sad when a bad call determines the outcome of a game but it happens all the time. Too bad high school cant afford instant replay like the colleges and pros. I sure hope the tigers dont let homecoming get in the way and they come out fired up and take care of those cats early. Everybody needs to come out to the pepralley down at the complex and support these boys and help keep them fired up. I think I heard Maurice say it will be after the parade Thursday night at 7

dude i wish you would shut up and stick to the sweat bees. us in rockwood don't care bout yall in capitol city. yall won congrats but you better get ready cause i don't see a playoff berth for yall. as for rockwood i see a very good chance at a playoff berth. this week OS is coming off an emotional win. rockwood coming off a heartbreaking loss will come out hungry. from my experience rockwood isn't a great team during homecoming week but with the group of seniors they got i see a focused and hungry tigers. i got the tigers 31-10

It looked to me like the Roberts pass hit the ground. I've got a two photos of it. To me, he had both hands on it, but Courteau got his hand in and stripped it out (first photo that's in the paper) then he trapped it against his leg and ground. That's what it looks like to me. I'll put the second photo on here tomorrow.

As far as the INT on the goal line, I wasn't watching Fugate and Hill until the ball was in the air. I didn't see it until Fugate was making a break on the ball so I can't comment on a push in the back. I did think the ball slipped out of Breazeale's hand and Fugate had a better angle on a pass that came up short.

Another close play was the onside kick. I thought Rockwood hit it before 10 yards and if that would have been the call then we would have never had the plays at the end.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
