I'd say Bearden, Maryville, Farragut, William Blount, Heritage, Lenoir City, Sevier County, South Doyle.

I think Bearden and Maryville both have the potential to bring a 2nd straight state title back to District 4-AAA. Bearden has better depth than Maryville. If Bearden gets solid pg play and can improve their outside shooting, they can beat anybody. They have great size and athletes, and Blevins can coach. Maryville should have an outstanding starting five, the same five who were on the court in overtime of the state title game after Basile and Maples fouled out. Depth will be a concern for Maryville, but a school of their size should be able to produce a few key reserves; you really only need about 7 or 8 guys if they can play.

Farragut and WB should be really good, too. I think the top 4 in the district is pretty clearcut.

I am ready for basketball. Things are looking better for William Blount this year. They are going to have a fairly large starting line-up. I believe the shortest of the starters is Ballard who is 6'2 maybe 6'3 (if he has on some heels). I know many on the team have been working real hard during the summer (I guess you have to when the defending state champ is just across town). We got a transfer this year well no doubt make some noise.

I have heard that Douglas in not going to play basketball this year for Maryville. If this is true that will be a fairly big loss for them.

I agree with you about William Blount. They should be good this year. I'm looking forward to see Micah develop. He has the potential to be a very good player.

It would be a huge loss to the Rebels if Douglas doesn't play. He is one of the best, if not the best, low post players in the state in hoops. They would still have a good team if he doesn't play but I think they have to have him to contend for another state title.

The only way Douglas doesn't play basketball is if he has to have surgery on his ailing shoulder. He loves the game and really enjoys playing it. I do know that his shoulder is injured and needs to be fixed. It will be interesting to see what happens. If he doesn't play then Bearden would definately be the front runner in that district.

Bearden could arguably be the favorite even if Douglas does play. Certainly, if he doesn't, they would be the clearcut favorite.

It seems like if Douglas does in fact need surgery on his shoulder than he would want to do it as soon as the football season was over. This way he will not miss any time next year in college.

Dobyns-Bennett, I believe, can beat any team in that district this year. They will have arguably the biggest line-up in the whole state. 3 guards 6'3" who can really shoot the lights out, 6'8" post, 2 6'6" posts, 6'5" post. if anyone has a bigger line-up than that let me know.

Here I was thinking that we were talking about district 4. I must have been wrong.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
