Volunteer might not be the strongest team in teh conference but they will suprise someone this season. They dont have any height or depth, but they will get better as the season moves along.A couple of decent players but nothing wonderful. They play with better chemistry this season than i have ever seen in this ball club.

I hope they have a great season and are on their way to a strong program in the future. Playing as a team a hustle will beat a lot of teams with one great player and no chemistry. I witnessed the no chemistry this weekend at a local boy's tournament. Parent's behind me complaining about son (a guard) not playing, soon as he was put in parent's started yelling "Play your game, play your game"! He took ball down court, did not call a play and shot a brick for a three point attempt. Next time he got the ball, did not call a play and drove straight down lane. Shot was blocked, coach called time out and took him out. LESSON TAUGHT, IT'S NOT YOUR GAME!

kids, kids, kids, stop the bickering. Isn't it funny how high school sports turn good people bad. You would think all the girls are on scholarship or division I prospects. The question is what are they learning from us or even better the coach that will help them in life when they hang up their sports bra.

I said it last year on a few conversations and I will say it again. The coach has an obligation to cut someone from the team if he/she is not going to play them. I would rather my little darling get hurt once that being dissappointed every year when she does not get to play. Just tell me of one coach that takes responsibility for keeping girls on their team and finds ways to use them. Coaching means producing results with team you have. Nobody in high school wants to be on the team for the fellowship. And their parents don't deserve it.

Well said, I always said coaches are life coaches first. It is a shame some are willing to give up good dedicated players because politics dictates he will not cut little darlings. It is not fair to the girls that work hard in summer leagues, camps and on their own to improve their skills to be told to lower their level of play so the little darlings who do nothing in off season can keep up. Two distinct life lessons were taught by this coach, one to each group of girls. So lets see the results produced by the little darlings.

    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
