I dont understand how the Mr. Football Kicker of the year title can go to this kid from Polk County. Hammonds was 5-8 on field goals 36-39 extra points .. and quoted by his coach to "sometimes get it to the endzone" on kickoffs. How offend is sometimes..Can he not do it everytime?... and he didnt kick any to the endzone in the ALLSTAR game and missed Fields goals from 20yrds in...Mr. Football titles in the past have gone the best in the state with real stats... colleges stats.. but this here is a joke. Congrats to Mike Hammonds but him recieving the award is a joke.

Recently the All-Midstate Teams where listed in the Tennessean Newspaper the kicker listed for the 1st team midstate, Chase Matthewson*. His stats where listed in the paper with a picture. The news paper wrongly reported that he made vaguely 10 field goals, 36- 39 pats, and had a long of 54 yrd. field goal, and best of all the paper reported that he was an incredible 32-34 kickoffs for touchback.. Ha ha thats so for from true 32-34 would put him in the 90% range for kickoffs for touchbacks and his long was on a 46yrd field goal.. but on his school football website the wilson central page it list all the team stats including his, he was truly 32-65 kickoff attempts to the endzone. so he wasnt even really 50% on the year.. and congrats he made 10 field goals but he was 10-19.. the hot stuff right there.. but again congrats to him on the false information given there fore recieving the award. but again thats a joke.

The 2nd Team kicker and even the Third Team Kickers were obviously the dominant kickers of the midstate and the state. The 2nd Team Kicker Andrew Flecher* of MBA and Sophomore had a brillient season..He was the reason his team won the state championships 12-0 he was 4-4 on the field goals. That was huge and congrats to him.. he was consistantly kicking off to the endzone at 2/3 everygame.. he missed maybe 2 extra points on the year. and as a sophomore his long for the season was a 49yrd field goal. WOW! hands down already better than the kid who won first team.

The Third Team Kicker Ethan Ingham from Gallatin Senior, Stats are listed and 20-22 extra points, 9-14 field goals long of 47 and most impressively he was 36-39 kickoffs for touchbacks. He was also listed as the Pre Season ALL State, therefore meaning he put up big numbers last year to as a junior.

Now these kickers right here seem to be obviously the best in the midstate and more dominant than thes award winners.. theres Other kickers and punters in the state.. such as Kase Whitehead, Mo Mo Stweart. WhiteHead is already committed to Marshall.. and Stweart is going to Vandy to play baseball.. these kids all have impressive stats... but where is there recognitions?..

I think this all apparent, that the facts are given and award recipents were wrongly chosen.. clearly..

To say it was a joke is clearly showing your lack of knowledge of all the kicker/punters in the state. It is better to state your case for your kickers than to show disrespect by putting down others.

It is obvious you have not seen this athletic kick or punt. He won the award hands down by being the best kicker and punter in the state. Nobody can match him in combined stats.

2007 All area kicker/punter Chattanooga with a punt average of 45.6 yards per punt. His last game against whitehouse he had 5 punts with a 46.6 yard average. Best in Southeast

2007 all region 3-3a kicker/punter

He can kickoff thru the endzone at will during regular season. Almost all of his kickoffs went thru the back of the endzone during regular season games. The only pats missed out of 40 were bad snaps or holds due to snap.

During the all star game one of his 4 kickoffs was caught 2 yards deep in the endzone in the all star game.

The all star game is for fun and to show off talents. The scouts that saw Mike kick and punt during the three days leading up to the all star game and the pregame demonstrations on the field in pat's, field goals, and punting were very impressed.

I will not go any deeper into this topic but the best kicker/punter in the state won this award. He has kicked against or with the best kickers in Tenn. and surrounding states in camps or games and they will tell you the same thing.
