A question for the officials

How can a defensive player block in the back?

It was called last night, and I've seen it called before. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

A little help would be appreciated.

A defensive player is under the same restrictions as an offensive player..................

good example. Sometimes a free safety will roar downhill and take out interference by cutting the lead offensive blockers legs below the waist............that is "Blocking below the waist"............you can tackle LOW, but you cannot do that to the lead blockers. Now is it called uniformly; absolutely not, because the officials do not see that tactic a lot.

Ever seen a runner reach up and grab a tackler's face mask...........YES and it will be called.

so, just because a player is on defense does not give him free rein to do illegal acts
