BCB, so that was you that I had to wait on the other day at raider76's house. He is really going to have to work more and stop coming home early. Not only did he almost catch me, but I'm kicking his proverbial a** selling insurance. Please work a little more raider, it is getting embarrassing. BTW, the 76 everyone thought was his graduation year is really his I.Q. Gotta love him though.

I wanted to weigh in because BCB, a longtime friend, called me to inquire if I had started this thread. As I told him, I did not, and I actually have not read coacht in about a year. However, since this thread involves my son, Grayson Huckabay, I couldn't help but read it and now post a quick reply to clarify and, hopefully, put to rest this issue.

My wife and I met with the Baylor coaches about a month ago about this issue and we were told by them that the policy of the Baylor wrestling program is to allow any 8th grader to challenge for a position if that is requested by the 8th graders' parents. To illustrate this position, the coaches told us of an 8th grader several years back who was allowed to challenge, and subsequently beat out, a returning state medalist.

This policy is completely acceptable within the guidelines of the TSSAA and, although disappointed, my wife and I fully support the Baylor coaches and the Baylor wrestling program. Moreover, let me say that Zach is a phenomenal wrestler and, far more importantly, a great kid. My son Grayson is also a solid wrestler, and a wonderful human being. All I ask is that you keep in mind that these are 13 and 14 year old boys. I don't think Grayson knows about this website but someone might tell him about it since his name is now on it. I would hate for him to read something on here about himself that does not keep his and Zach's young ages in consideration.

Go Tigers!

    • Tough situation.  Not sure the ROI is there right now.   Might be better options that are cheaper.
    • Yeah summer ball is really fun, but a lot of coaches are trying to play several kids to get much needed reps that they are not accustomed to. I would imagine Gibson County will have lots of players playing to get much needed reps. Want to win games but got to get experience as well and the rotation will be much deeper. I will be at MTSU, UTM Bethel and others. MTSU is the one I really look forward to.
    • So who are the new additions to the staff? Serious answers only please.
    • Its always interested to see the state teams the following summer after losing or not losing seniors and getting freshman and transfers. It's almost time.
    • Maryville has Alcoa on the schedule at the right time of the season which helped last year instead of at the first of the year not knowing much. West will be hard pressed to repeat this year but next will be a different story.
