York vs. Pickett

That was the best I've ever seen a York team play...I'm a fan of both schools so I'm happy for either to win. I just wonder what York would have been like all these years if Coach Wright had been coach...already he's shown he's coach of the year. Coach Matney should be credited for finding Newbaker but Newbaker would have been in and out any game three dozen times if the coaching didn't change and look at the talent that was driven off. York never had a starting 5, never left players in long enough to get rolling and their past record showed it. They have always had equal talent to Pickett Co. but in the last dozens seasons it's been something like 20 wins for Pickett vs 5 for York, or close to that. A big school like York should have dominated, not Pickett. I'm just very happy to see York off to a GREAT start and hope they whip Livingston! Pickett seems to play ever other game. They looked great against Grace, pretty good against White, horrible against Livingston, only played half a game against Cumberland Co. and won big in the 2nd half and looked awful against York. They had to be at their best to beat York, so a blowout like last night isn't a surprise.

Thats funny. Had to get a slam against LA, huh? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Agree with alot of that bobcat, but that's my point. You can't say Newbaker would have been in and out because Coach Matney wasn't given the chance to show what he could or would do. What people don't understand is that he and Coach E were a lot different. They didn't always agree completely about things, but Coach Matney did what he was supposed to. He gave his thoughts on things, Coach E made the final decision, and Coach Matney supported his head coach. That's what made him a great assistant and that's why so many of us players are loyal to him. I've never said Coach Wright wouldn't do a good job. I think he will do fine. But my position has been and will always be that a man loyal to this school and to the program was not given the chance to prove that he could as good as or better than Coach Wright. That would have given both football and basketball 2 good coaches instead of one coach spread too thin between both. Not to mention the whole education thing with losing a great math teacher. Even Coach Wright couldn't replace him in the classroom. No one there could.

Coach Wright is our coach, and in the event you did not notice, is doing an exceptional job. Let's let all the other stuff go and support our team and coaches. Coach Matney is a good man and has moved on with his life and coaching career, and I think everyone else should do the same.

Go York

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
