I've seen both teams play, smyrna three times this season, I would love to say that I thought Smyrna would win because I'm a middle tennessee guy, and I think from top to bottom region 4 is by far the best region in the state. Having said that I think Maryville would win because that offense is so hard to stop, It is the most complex high school offense I have ever seen. Smyrna has more athletes, but I think Maryville is the better team.

This is a thread of people that can prove nada! I am sure that if Smyrna and Maryville played, it would be a heck of a game. Here are a few games to consider:

Maryville 20 William Blount 19

Bearden 30 William Blount 0

Smyrna 17 Bearden 14

I know games can be played at the top of a teams play level or they can have an off night. This conversation is a waste until Maryville moves up; and they will. Make no mistake, Maryville is a contender at any level.

For that matter in Division 1... Alcoa was the second best team in the state this year 1a-5a and Maryville whipped them... I would put Alcoa's starters against the starters for and 5A team in the state.

I think Aloca is one of the best teams the state, but would struggle with David Lipscomb, South Pittsburg, Pearl-Cohn, Red Bank, South, Hillsboro, Maplewood, Henry Co, Wilson Central, DB, Oak Ridge, Farragut, Smyrna, Riverdale, Bearden, Millington, independence, Franklin and White Station.

Just hilarious .... /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> ..... you can't prove that either Bud . Why disrespect Alcoa like that ? Would you like it if I threw a bunch of teams out there and said DB would struggle with all of them .

Sorry to single you out Bud , but this time of year always amazes me , in that so many posters turn into haters , and instead of praising young men's accomplishments , they resort to putting down teams and players .

Here's some games from 2006 for you to consider ....

SEPT. 29 : Red Bank - 77 - Brainerd -8

NOV. 3 : Maryville - 30 - Brainerd - 26

Using your logic , RB beat Brainerd by 69 points , we beat em by 4 ..... so I guess Maryville shouldn't even have bothered making that trip down to Red Bank last year .....

NOV.17 : Maryville - 38 - Red Bank - 14 .......Funny how everyone says you can't compare scores ... yet someone always does when they're trying to reflect something negative against their team of choice .

You guys just don't understand how Maryville plays in big games! In 05 Alcoa was supposed to be the most talented team in the state and the Rebs could have beaten them by 60. GQ & Co. would find a way to win and I'm willing to bet on that.

CHAMP5, YOU ARE A TRUE PLAYER. MARYVILLE WOULD TAKE THEM. THEY ARE NOT THE STRONGEST

THEY HAVE EVER BEEN BUT I WOULD PUT GQ AND COMPANY UP FOR THE WIN. NO DOUBT.

I ALSO BELIEVE THAT ALCOA'S TEAM THIS YEAR (AA SCHOOL) AT THE END OF THE SEASON COULD TAKE SMYNRA. A (5-A) TEAM.

RANKIN AND CO. HAVE REALLY SHOWN THEY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES, AND CAN PUT IT TOGETHER.

CONGRATS TO ALCOA BY THE WAY. YOU GUYS LOOKED GREAT LAST FRIDAY NITE.

HAVE NOT SEEN A HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM LOOK SO GRAND.

KUDOS TO MARYVILLE AND ALCOA.

    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
    • I heard Alabama was at Antioch practice and Colorado has offered QB. Hoping the Bears have a great year.
