does that set riverdale up against BA on saturday? hopefully the warriors will avenge their loss to BA in that case, they lost 71-65 earlier this season

I believe that BA and Riverdale play at 12:30 p.m. Saturday (5th place game)

Sycamore will play Indepence at 2 p.m. Saturday (3rd place game)

Haywood will play Mt. Juliet at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (7th place game)

Little ole Single A Basketball Team....UNION CITY.....looks like they are going to come to Middle Tennessee and dominate all of the schools...even AAA and win the Battle Of The State Basketball Tournament. Just goes to show you how weak your basketball is there.

I know a few other teams that could come and do well....Humboldt and Lake County could also run the table just like Union City is and they too are also Single A.

Little ole Union City beating all of you.....I'm not suprised.

Dyer County came to Cookeville thinking they were going to show us how weak our basketball is. I believe they are going back west with a big L on their record now. U think Union City can handle Dyer County?

Hummmmm....I don't belive Dyer County OR Cookville are at the Battle of the State Champions Tournament ...are they???

And to really answer your question, yes we could beat either one of you. We have a couple of open dates....want to sign up and give your team a try.

Anyway...I think this post is about the Battle Of The State Champions...not about Dyer County or Cookville in some little ole tournament someone is trying to put on. Anyway, is your team any type of past State Champion like Union City?

Maybe next year your team might get invited!! Ha! Ha!

You want to run down middle Tn. basketball? Well your best west Tn. team got beat in mid Tn.

I wouldn't say Dyer County is the best team in West Tennessee but White County is an undefeated AAA team and to lose away from home by 4 points isn't bad considering DC is AA....

I don't know alot about Livingston Academy....I know they have a good record...I hear they like to try and run....That would be playing right into UC's hands as the Tornadoes want to run all the time....It should be a good game...UC might have to play without one of the better players on the team but they didn't have him the majority of time last night....Sycamore was a gritty team...UC was on the verge of blowing them out of the arena a couple times...UC had gone up 59-42 with the aid of seven three pointers in about a five minute span of the third quarter but Sycamore battled to keep it managable....Sycamore did cut the lead to 8 points in the fourth quarter because UC missed the front ends of three one and ones...UC started holding the ball with about 5 minutes to go in the game...Anyone close to the program knows that is not an opportunity the Tornadoes have very often,so that was good practice for later on...They just need to hit those free throws..Had they hit them last night it would have been a wider margin than the eventual 10 point win...Sycamore hit a three at the buzzer to cut it to 10...UC hit 16 threes last nite which was 2 off the school record of 18...Nik Brooks hit 6 of them and MJ Brown hit 5...Ryne Simpson gave UC a big boost in the third quarter when he hit 4 threes....

UC is due a big offensive game...I would feel alot more comfortable with Tony Wilkins in there though...I'll predict UC will win the Battle for the State tournament with a 85-77 win today over Livingston Academy with MJ Brown winning the tourney MVP....

I just didn't like the way that blow hard was downing middle Tn. basketball. They beat a couple of mediocre AAA teams. I'd like to see White County play UC.

Long as we're beating them...we can mow'em down.

I just love a little trash talk'in every now and then.

As long as Union City can win and even loose from time to time like the probably will in the Poplar Bluff Tournament, we CAN WALK THE WALK & TALK THE TALK.

For everyones info....Union City will play a AAAAA team in the first round of the Poplar Bluff Tournament next Thursday and odds are might loose but No Pressure on Us ( Union City).

Just getting Union City ready for the 2nd half of the season!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
