I will attempt to rate a few area coaches that I know something about, if I leave your school out it's because Im not familiar with the coach or program:

GIRLS

Eliz- very solid, fromer coach Larry Weems did a good job but now they have one of the very best x's and o's guys in the game anywhere today and thats Len Dugger. Folks Len Dugger is a man that loves kids and the game of basketball. In my OPINION, he could coach at the college level as an ASST at a large program or Head Coach at a smaller school. If you dont believe me, ask any coach around, they will tell you teh same about Dugger!

SHHS- Barnwell, very nice guy, good coach, has done wonders at SHHS, a friend of SHHS AD Keith Turner who brought him in. runs very solid hardworking program!

HV- Godsey, nice young man, seems to due decent job with the talent he has. Banks girl and freshman Bowling are kids that could play anywhere. Bowling woud have made Eilzabethton the tournament Champion had she decided to go there instead of HV. She's a good kid from a good family and will go far, just maybe farther had she chose Eliz.

Cloudland- Matt Birchfield is a class act, gets the very most out of his kids from the mountain!

If he chose to leave the Roan, the bigger schools would ceratinly benefit from this young man!

Hampton- Leon Tolley, a great BB coach, played for Jerry White and Len Dugger at Hampton. Looks like they taught him well. another coach that could name his ticket at a bigger school if he chose to run from the dogs.

Unaka- Kenneth Chambers, quality coach who knows the game and teaches it well. Chambers is raedy to step into a job such as the Watuaga or Inter Mountain Conferences.

Unicoi County-who can argue with success, Fisher is a very good coach that has his teams atop the conf year in and year out. His girls play tough, rugged and physical basketball as was seen in the Eliz game this week. Remeber, it's up to the guys and gals in the stripe shirts to keep the game from getting out of hand. the kids will paly as physical as they are allowed to play!

S Greene- dont know your coach but your team plays the dirtiest of any team around and according to your fans at this weeks games, you all are proud of that, enough said!

    • I have no idea who your team is, but Memphis and other Shelby Co. schools have hardly made a dent, if you’re talking Game 15 appearances. Outside of a couple by Whitehaven, I can’t recall the last team in a final.
    • Robbed you guy at a chance of 3 state championships. You never kne, sond best team in the west my have beat you also, but you sure deserved the chance to play um.
    • Eagleville also loses Brown the catcher, Lamb CF, Mclemore RF (Heck of an athlete) and Drew the 1st baseman. They will be young.
    • Good thing we aren’t in Florida then huh? It would benefit a ton of the smaller schools  that don’t have the pools of kids to choose from! They should start by policing Shelby County like they do the rest of the state! Something has to change though and TSSAA knows that!
    • Correct, you can whimsically be fired in coaching. A coach that has tenure can stay on as a teacher if released from coaching. If you don’t have tenure as a teacher, you can fired without cause. Your last year as a teacher before tenure is earned you can be fired, but must be given cause. A tenured teacher can be fired, but it is a long hard process requiring the 3 D’s…. documentation, documentation and documentation. I have released 3 tenured teachers, 2 with PHD’s. However, teacher contracts had and still have clauses that state you can be fired for a variety reasons re: being arrested, public drunkenness, inappropriate relationships ect.
