Farragut vs. Bearden

Bearden beats Farragut tonight 54-41. Both teams played good defense, and Bearden seemed to have an answer every time that Farragut would show signs of a comeback. Simpson led Bearden with 20 points.

"I'm getting my tickets right now to watch them at the state tournament," said Dodgen. "I can't see them not winning state with what (coach Mark Blevins) has got right now."

 

Glad to see that Farragut's coach has basically handed Bearden the district and region tournaments. Glad to see that he has confidence in his own team.

 

I saw the game last night and thought that Farragut played well enough to win they just couldn't hit any shots.

I've made it a point to see the better AAA teams around Knoxville this season, and Bearden is, in my opinion, a cut above. The Bulldogs absolutely should make it to Murfreesboro. As for winning it all -- well, I don't know squat about the Memphis-area teams, so speculation on my part would be laughable. Bearden could certainly lose to Maryville in the district and/or in the region to either Maryville or Oak Ridge, but such a loss wouldn't necessarily (probably wouldn't, in fact) end the Bulldogs' season. Whichever teams survive Region 2 will be battle-tested.

Where will district 4 and region 2 be held? That region tournament is going to be a dandy with Bearden, Maryville, Farragut, Oak Ridge, and Powell.
