Coffee County

Right around 9-10 ... I saw the list of coaches that did apply. Doug Green, former baseball coach at CHS was on there, Pippenger, Nunley, Sisk, Wiggins, then there were three or four others that I can't remember off the top of my head. An assistant at Franklin County was one of them. 2P it is still looking like at least a week. This coming Friday will be a stretch. Duvall has given a shortened list with the interview teams recocmendations to Casteel (director of schools) and Joe Pedigo (deputy director). Now I'm really not sure what happens. But from what I understand Casteel will be calling the coaches and talking with them personally. So I'm not sure if Casteel has the final say here or Duvall.

Five men will be called back for an interview by Casteel. Then he will make the decission.

There are 5 names left that are still in the running. They are interviewing again next week with Mr. Casteel, then he is going to make the final decision. Guess what Pedo. One of the finalists is from Tullahoma. How do you like them apples.

haha they taste sour...just like they will to everyone in Manchester if he is hired. But honestly O-line, do you think he stand any kind of a chance? ....... And I didn't mean to leave Sisk's name out in an earlier post when I said Wiggins and Nunley .... I think it is between those three. But I heard today, from about as reliable a source as they come, that it was just three left. But if I got bad information and it is five like you say O-Line - I'm assuming Sam Melton and Pippenger are the other two?

there is only two of the five that the community will get behind from day one! The sad part about this whole situation is that it should have already been filled and getting ready for the next season. We are depending on Duvall and a AD that knows nothing about football, if you dont believe me just ask him. it hasn't been to many years ago that we had 25 boys playing football now we have some where around 100, not a bad change. Then decission makers need to look in the past and see what was done to turn the program around, i think you will see that they involved the community and brought a pretty good coach in that new how to work in a program like ours. instead this time they are pushing the community out and depending on Duvall which is the one put our program in the shape that it was before Coach Price. She left Coffee and built Blackman to the Power House that it is. I hope that Casteel will listen to the community and do what is right for our program.

Blackman? Powerhouse? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

While I will agree they are above average, they are not what I would call a powerhouse.....Yet!

Now 'if' they were in Region 3 they WOULD be a powerhouse. Be more likely to get R'dale than Blackman though when they realign Regions this next time.

I REALLY do hope y'all get a good coach that EVERYONE can get behind and build CC into a powerhouse in its own right as y'all deserve it. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

you are right, i dont get a warm fuzzy with her making the decission or supporting the program in the future. She does not have a good track record!! six years ago the Director at the time formed a group to go out and find a coach that could turn our program around and they did, proved to be a good decision. Since then our program has about 100 boys, carried about 2 or 3 thousand fans to every away game and had huge crowds at home, built a 10 thouseand sq foot field house / weight room. The Community did all this, now they dont care about what they think. Go figure.

You are correct on one of them but the other is not Pip. I was told in confidence who the 5 are and will not release names on the t for everyone to see, but I will tell you this I have never heard of the other one before saturday. He does however share the same last name with a fairly well known coach.

I too think Mrs. Duvall is a great lady, but I have to say that I liked the commitee format. If you have the right people involved it can't be bad to have mulitple minds in on it. Coach Price did a fantastic job getting players and the community to buy in and turn the team into a program that can compete for a home playoff game every year, but it should be noted that he was no better than the third of forth choice for the job. Goes to show you a good coach can be found if you do the work.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
