Here is something to stir the minds of followers of 8A/AA. White House at Portland, Friday May 2nd at 7pm. This will be the last game of the regular season for both teams and it will be portland's senior night. Up until that point I think both teams will be able to fight thru district play and come out tied for 1st spot in the district, therefore making this THE DECIDING GAME of district play.

It's true that both portland and white house SHOULD go unbeaten in district play until their first meeting, I'm not saying it WILL happen. many are eager to overlook merryl hyde. I'm not convinced they won't show up strong. And never count out station camp. they can put one past you and hold on to it. The Portland-White House game will be an awesome game. It's become a huge rivalry. two years ago portland beat white house in the regular season to seal a higher seed in the district and the proceeded to knock out white house in the district finals. however white house beat portland in region finals. last year, white house tied portland in a game that was controlled by portland. White House just knows how to play portland in my opinion. It's almost uncanny. I can't wait to see this game. But as for the players, don't get caught looking ahead. Because there are "worse" teams that will take advantage of underestimation. keep that in mind

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
