UTC Wrestling Needs Your Help.

 

The UTC Old Timers Club is responsible for 3 of the 4 concession stands during the Traditional State Wrestling Tournament. Each stand is staffed by volunteers, UTC wrestlers and members of the UTC Old Timers Club. All Net Proceeds (after expenses) go the UTC Wrestling program. It is the single largest fund raiser for the wrestling program and a great way to support UTC wrestling.

 

This year there has been a slight decrease in volunteers to date so we are asking for HELP. Again, it's a great way to support UTC Wrestling. If you can help or know of someone who can help, please contact Virginia Waddell at vwaddell@ comcast.net or call her at 423-870-9197 by Friday, 2/8/08. After that date you can send an e-mail to Nancy Burnside at wbj@aol.com .

 

Below is the lastest schedule from the TSSAA. It is completely OK if you can only help during one session on one day. Please do what you can.

February 14, 2008

 

2:00 P.M. Weigh-Ins (Division I)

4:00 P.M. Round of 32 (Division I), Round of 16 (Division I)

 

February 15, 2008

 

8:00 A.M. Weigh-Ins (Division I & Division II)

10:00 A.M. Round of 8, and Consolation Bouts

(Division I - 1st Round)

10:00 A.M. Round of 16, Round of 8, and Consolation Bouts

(Division II - 1st and 2nd Rounds)

6:00 P.M. Semi-Finals and Consolation Bouts

(Division I - 2nd and 3rd Rounds)

6:00 P.M. Semi-Finals and Consolation Bouts

(Division II - 3rd Round)

 

February 16, 2008

 

8:00 A.M. Weigh-Ins (Division I & Division II)

10:00 A.M. Consolations (4th Round), Third & Fourth, Fifth & Sixth

(Division I & Division II)

4:00 P.M. Championship Finals (Division I & Division II)

This is a really good way to help UTC wrestling. The entire wrestling community benefits from having a very strong college program here in TN. The Wrestling program can only exist with local financial support. This is a good way to contribute without having to write a check. I have been volunteering for this and it is actually fun. Most of the younger wrestlers who are not out of town with the team come and work, it is fun to work with them.

      Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.

      West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.

      I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.

      I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!

      Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
