1000 Points Morgan Faulkner

With the end of the season, Morgan Faulkner ended the year with 999 points. Her recognition was only because of the play and confidence her teammates and Coaching staff had in her. The first points she scores Thursday nite will put her over the 1000 point level. Points, of course, mean nothing if a team does not win and that is the most important thing as they do play against the ever dangerous Warren County.

Lost in all of the hoopla of the end of regular season, awards, etc ,are the careers of the three Siegel Seniors this year. Clair Waggoner came to Siegel High School the same year as Allison Wright and Morgan Faulkner and as in Middle School and and then in high school, got in a rotation behind Carrie Parrot, a great player as well as a great post. Playing time was not as plentiful during those days and the 6'2" player was not able to develop as she wanted. Only seeing her makes you realize she will be a good player. The last few games of the season, she proved to many how she could handle the boards. She will attend a Div 1 school and look forward to her development.

Allison Wright is a very good player and at times can be a spectacular player and has only been hampered by some injuries during her career. She is a very good 3 point shooter and each year she has played a full year, has been one of the leaders on the team in assts Playing almost year round since she was 10, she is a very savy player. While this poster does not have High School total stats for AW or Morgan Faulkner, its very likely the only difference between the two players might be the times AW may have been out in her High School Career. They came out of Siegel Middle School, both heralded for their 3 point shooting and overall court play and that carried on to the High School where they have been leaders in play all four years. Except for this year, they split point in the Siegel scheme of things. As would be the case, those duties have been changed this year as a Freshman Shamice Cason split the point and the two players split 2, 3,and 4. with her. In estimation only. for their high school career they each produced around 300 assists each and approximately 600 steals in coach Alan Bush's scheme of things. it's very like Faulkner led in 3 point shooting only because of time lost by Wright but it would be conservative to say the career totals of each would be over 150. They were on winning Siegel teams every year they were there and that was not the case in the newly created school before they got there.

As was quoted by Coach Bush, "Faulkner has a shooter's attitude and you know when she's on".

She is a Senior leader of the team and Bush will miss all three of these Seniors as they leave. Both of these seniors should play with a University as both are athletic and bring a lot to a team. While it is not a certainity, it definitely would not surprise this poster if one day both of their names might wind up on the High School scene as Head Coaches. Well that is another story but they are well ahead of their undergraduate background and heading into their Masters. Good Luck Siegel Seniors.

I was sitting in the stands with my mom and we watched in anticipation, for we knew it was coming. Morgan picked up the ball and did a half spin move and hit it off the glass, BAM there it was. I was too excited for words. I could only clap and stand up for my friend. I'm proud of you Morgan...the third inductee, you're following in the footsteps of great players, Tikedra Jones and Carrie Parrott congrats Morgan...

    • Why did the coach get rehired after she was let go as an assistant by the former Warren County coach and the current AD?? Is that accurate?? I am very familiar with situations like this. Suprised lawsuits haven't happend before. If the coach unfairly let the player go, I think she has a shot because it cost her a scholarship. No college is going to offer a scholarship to a player that is kicked off of the team. Not going to happen. There are bad hires like this a bunch and kids are treated unfairly by coaches that can't coach a lick and have super long ropes somehow. Amazing how some of these coaches get hired and keep their job.
    • I am going to assume you are not a lawyer, and most reasonable lawyers would not say the lawsuit has a zero percent chance in court. I agree with you that a coach has the ability to dismiss anyone from a team. However, Ms. Winfree was never presented with the opportunity to present her witnesses and have them tell the coaches and administrators what they heard. A lawyer could better explain the lawsuit and the grounds to you. Before you start making wild assumptions about the lawsuit, would it be too much to ask that you do a little legal research first? The lawsuit is dealing with due process, loss of property, and defamation.   You can read the lawsuit here: https://bdnewsletter.files.wordpress.com/2024/04/doc-1-complaint-filed-4-18-2024.pdf
    • The administration took the path of backing the coach and whispering to people that the kid was a problem. The reality is that the kid was never a problem on a team or classroom. The player says she has witnessed who back her not saying the f-word.  Why did the coach make that story up and other stories? I am not Sigmund Freud and do not have an answer for the ex=-coach's behavior..
    • I think they have they coach they want close to being done. I guess we will all see how this plays out. I hope the hire a good one. There are some players in the box for the next coach to work with.
