Marshall Co. continued their dominance in post-season play with a win over East Literature in the Semi-Finals of the Region 5-AA by the score of 58-30. The Tigerettes were led by Lauren March with 24 pts (6 of 7 FT's), 7 rebs, 2 assts, and 1 blk. Kanesha McLean had 9 pts with 3 of 4 FT's, Jessica McQueen hit Marshall's only 2 threes in her 8 pts and McKenna Moffett had 8 assists with her 4 pts. East Literature was led by Shenita Gleaves with 12 pts followed by Sharonda Brabson with 9 that included their only three. Turnovers were a factor as East Literature had 22 to Marshall Co.'s 11. Marshall passed well with 17 assists to EL's 2.

In the 2nd qtr, MC outscoed EL, 15-8, as McQueen had 8 with 2 threes, Simmons had 3 (1 of 2 FT's), and both March and McLean had 2 each while EL's Brabson had 5 (3 of 4 FT's), Gleaves hit 2 of 3 FT's, and Foster hit 1 of 2 FT's as MC led at the half, 30-15.

In the 4th qtr, MC outscored EL, 16-11, as March had 5 (1 of 1 FT's), Moffett had 4 (2 of 2 FT's), Hopkins had 3 (1 of 1 FT's), Bryant had 2, and both O'Neal and McLean each hit 1 of 2 FT's while EL's Brabson had 5 with a three, both Golden-Brown and Cowan each had 2, and Gleaves had 2 (0 of 1 FT's) as Marshall Co. won, 58-30, to advance the the Region 5-AA Final on Wed. at 6 PM against Hickman Co. who won earlier, 49-47, against Giles Co.

 

The Cinderella run of East Literature ended, but they played extremely well in the post season with their wins over David Lipscomb, CPA, and Lewis Co. and only lost to Ezell-Harding by 11 in the District 9-AA Tournament Final. I'm sure we'll hear more from them next season.
