Natalie Lanning-Riverdale

Angela Spann - Lawrence County

Jordan Luffman - Lawrence County

Icelyn Elie - Lebanon

London Elie - Lebanon

Jasmin Brooks - Lebanon

Alex Jarrell - Shelbyville

Ceny Phelps - Shelbyville

Hannah Dawson - Shelbyville

Sha'Para Johnson - Shelbyville

Remember these awards are based on their performance solely in the Region semi-finals and finals. Thus, why no players from quarter-final games are included.

No offense to the player, but how in the world did Lanning from Riverdale make all-region? I may have possibly seen # 42 from Riverdale as being on the all-tournament team.

she was high scorer of the shelbyville semi final with 9 pts. the others on her team had 5 each except for #40 she had 4

Which begs the question "Is basketball all about a player's individual points?" Why are we rewarding players based on points and not their contribution to the game as a whole (defense, rebounds, assists etc.)? There are lots of players out there who may score 4 points less per game but have many more rebounds, assists, and steals. Those players should be recognized and rewarded for team play. And not to mention shot percentage. What if a player scores 9 with a 30% and another 8 with 75%? Does the 9-pointer-scorer make it over the other?

I realize it's easy to just grab the score book and a caculator to determine all tournament selections but would'nt it be nice to put the "team" back in this sport. With the technology available today its possible to get a more vivid picture of all the stats in a game.

I know i'm just dreaming.

Did you see Riverdale's stat sheet, I would think it would be hard to come up with a player based on that single game.

Lanning did hit three 3-pointers that keep them in it early!

No. That is why there are no names in my post. My post is intended to shed light on the situation as a whole not a particular player or game, district or region.

Then how do you know that the person or persons that chose the all region team didn't look at all the aspects, not just points?

I did see the game and I also think it was the best choice for that one game.

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
