The Marshall Co. Tigerettes got off to a good start in the AA Sectional against Bolivar Central as Lauren March had 8 of her 19 pts in the 1st qtr, McKenna Moffett hit 2 of her 4 threes, and Simmons had 4 of her 19 pts enroute to a 62-41 win as they advanced to the State Tournament in Murfreesboro. Bolivar Central was led by Matrekia Minter with 16 pts, Kendra Willaims had 12 that included a three, and Brooke Crisp hit 2 threes. Two keys to the win for Marshall was their rebounding (41) and their assists (13). Bolviar had 24 rebs and 6 assists. Both teams played hard, but in the end, Marshall prevailed.

Marshall Co led at the end of the 1st qtr, 18-10, as March had 8, Moffett hit 2 threes, and Simmons had 4 while Bolivar Central's Williams had 6 and Minter had 4.

 

In the 2nd qtr, MC outscored BC, 14-12, as Moffett had 5 with a three, Simmons had 4 (0 of 2 FT's), McLean had 3 (1 of 2 FT's), and March had 2 while BC's Minter had 6, Crisp hit a three, and Williams had 3 (1 of 2 FT's) and MC led at the half, 32-22.

 

In the 3rd qtr, MC outscored BC, 14-5, as Moffett had 5 with a three, March had 4, Hopkins hit a three and Simmons had 2 while BC's Williams hit a three and Sain hit 2 of 3 FT's as MC led after 3 qtrs, 46-27.

 

In the 4th qtr, MC outscored BC, 16-14, as Simmons had 9 (1 of 1 FT's), March had 5 (3 of 6 FT's), and DaRhonda O'Neal had 2 while BC's Minter had 6 (0 of 2 FT's), Rivers had 5 with a three, and Crisp hit a three as Marshall Co. won, 62-41.

 

Marshall Co will advance to the State Tournament and their opponent will be determined in a draw to held on Sunday. Bolivar Central played hard and they have a bright future ahead of them.
