Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Leen won his semifinal over Stout of American University by fall at 4:54. Manley lost his semifinal to Nakasone of Lehigh, 3-1, in OT (sv) according to the brackets. Manley went on to finish 3rd beating Snook of Army 3-2. Leen wrestles in the championship finals this evening.

Leen took 2nd. Both kids did a great job representing Tennessee and their respective schools.

 

Manley certainly lives up to the old cliche about the " toughest wrestler " taking third. He quietly guts out win after win and has put together one heck of a college season even after jumping up a weight class.

 

Present and future TN high school state champs are going to get a whole lot more respect at the national level due to the efforts of these guys.

Is Corey Manson still wrestling at Cornell?

 

Saw Manson at EIWA championships. He looks in great shape. Getting big(lifting) and according to teammate Leen "people better watch out for him next year he is going to be great."

 

Manson is taking the EIWA equivalent of a "redshirt" as he is taking this year off of school but living and working in NY and getting better daily wrestling unattatched early in tournaments and with a local "wrestling club" designed for his situation.

 

When I talked with him he said he could "hardly wait" for next year to begin. He should be a big factor for a great Cornell program next year.
