Pitch hits batter in hand.

The rule is clear. It is found on page 62 of the 2008 NFHSsoftball rule book. It reads: (under Rule 8-2)

 

2. If the batter is hit anywhere on the body, including the hands, while swinging at a pitch and hits the ball fair or foul, the ball is dead and a strike is called. If it is strike three, the batter is out.

 

For the record, on the same page under 4.b. , the last sentence reads " The batter's hands are not to be considered a part of the bat".

stupid thread, maybe coach t will open a REC league message board

 

while this thread may be stupid to you...you would be amazed at how many people including coaches believe that the bat is part of the hands...so i think this thread is great so that everyone that reads this will be like OH i didnt know that..and they have learned something and that is what is great about coach T
