Those two teams play ten times...Heritage wins 9.

 

I hope more people get to see them play this year. I've been thoroughly impressed with their effort during regions.

 

WHH is a quality soccer team with very good skills, but I hardly believe that they could beat GP 9 out of 10 times - you must be in dreamland. Yes, they passed the ball better and played to their spaces better than GP - but WHH's shooting last night was simply horrible. WHH could have won the game by 2 or more goals, as could GP have done, but WHH simply couldn't put the ball in the net, and most of the time even near the net. GP's defense beat WHH's offense last night - nuff said. GP's defense has put their team in position to beat two quality teams in post-season (CPA & WHH), taking both to shootouts - that too, is a sign of a quality team. Both teams have the ability to move further through post season play.

There is not a single person that was at that game, gp fan or WHH fan, that can strap up to a lie detector and not say that Heritage was the better team. Heritage shooting was off from deep which was good for GP whos goalie was not very good, he was not bad but not as good as CPA's or as many of the other teams Heritage has played. And yes GP had more shots on goal after they scored the first one but that was only the third legit shot on goal. All GP does is play kickball and run under it and if you have a good defense then you can win like that. GP defense was good they deflected several shots that would have gone in. Heritage was the better team though no question.

I thought it was really close. The defense and the goalie sort of slowed down expecting an offsides call which obviously was a mistake. The guy made a good run it was hard to tell either way. I do think the ball was in the goal for Heritage though on a late shot i think in the second overtime. the goalie saved it but it sure looked like he brought it way over the line.

Nobidy is not manning up. Im just saying that Heritage was the better team overall. But GP finished on one of their few chances and thats how soccer goes. The fans for GP for the most part were respectable and the players play hard so I have nothing but respect for them....Good luck to GP in the substate game. Page and Giles County will play tonight becuase of a mixup with the fields. Im expecting Page to win. GP will then beat Giles and from what I have heard from someone who has seen both Page and Heritage play that WHH is the better team so I hope to see 2 region 5 teams in the state tourny. 2 out of 8 isnt bad....There is a small chance I will be at that game tonight so if I am I will give a scouting report for who ever GP will play.

I don't even know how you can criticize GP's goalie. Of all the shots on goal that you bragged about, he stopped all but one. And several of them were REALLY good saves. Then he stops 2 of your 4 pk shots in the shoot out. Did you even watch the game? Do you have any idea how hard it is to stop a pk shot from 12 yards with a stationary goalie, in the rain. And then you compare him to CPA - who we also beat - but where he did the exact same thing. Stopped 2 of their 4 pk shots in a shootout. That's 4 of 8 pk shots stopped in shootouts in two games . Ask any goalie in soccer who wouldn't like to have a 50% save rate during a shootout in championship play. Give him the respect he's due.

 

And i've already said that WHH passed better, and played to their spaces better, and yes, even had more shots on goal. They're a quality team, and they did play better than GP last night in those areas. But doesn't winning the game have something to do about deciding which team is the better team on any given night. GP did what they had to do to stay close, tie the game, and then win in a shootout. On the scoreboard, they were the better team last night

Sure, its alway's the referee's fault. I was wondering how long it would take WHH to come up with that excuse.

well you do have to use the excuse that their main keeper was out too? so back up vs starter, makes the backup seem amazing compared to the starter? just sayin

Actually it sounds like that is your excuse. Hey, soccer is soccer. Get a red card in a game, you sit out. No one said it was fair for GP when their starting sweeper had his leg broken earlier in the season. That's soccer.

 

And i never said a single word against your goalie and wasn't criticizing him. To imply that i was is simply wrong. I was just telling patriot guy that he needed to give GP's goalie some respect for all the stops he made against your starting varsity players in the field, and in the shootout. I'm sure it wasn't your JV or backup players who were taking the shots in the shootout. He was up against your best - and stopped 50% of their point blank shots when it counted.

I dont know about CPA's pks but Heritage's two were right to him he didnt even have to move at all. So you cant call those great saves it was just mistakes of the shooters. Plus some of the chances Heritage had were because the goalie couldnt catch the ball and dropped it with a wide open net 3 times but his defense somehow saved him. I didnt say he was bad but I have seen a lot better. Pint blank is exactly right....point blank right at him. Even te referees were talking about how Heritage was a lot better than GP.

 

Im sick of arguing about this GP won and deserved it. Both teams have big games tomorrow
