So as we all know , my fellow tornadoes will travel across town to take on the Maryville Red Rebels. This is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year for both teams , and quite frankyl , east tennessee. With James , Tallant , and Sharp all behind center , loaded with six backs : The Toney brothers, Warren ,Tyson, Foster and Herbert, Sam Thompson and Brother Walker starting at flanker and split end , and Sophomore of the year , Tyler Robinson starting at TE , how could the tornadoes go wrong?? Well all will be put on the line this friday , Lets start the trash talk (respectively) /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Well Rankinated, the main thing that worries me is the Tornadoes freezing up when they see those black uniforms run out onto the field. I know this is more important than state to some of the players, but the excitement can get to them if they're not careful...The Rebels have a solid defense and that gives any team trouble, no matter how good the offense is. If the Tornadoes can't stop the Rebels running game, i don't think they can pull it off. I expect Quarles to come out with a truckload of trick plays, so the Tornadoes defense will have to make sure they play with their eyes. The turnout of this game will also involve who GQ decides to put at quarterback. The Rebels have great receivers, but they can't do any good if they don't have a qb to get the ball to them...These teams are also coached by legends. Good luck to both teams!!! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
