Bo was injured in the first quarter of the game v. Franklin. He caught a screen pass, planted his foot, and was hit - all at the same time. > His femur snapped about halfway up the leg. For the first two hours, including the ride in the ambulance down to Williamson County Hospital, the thought was he had torn up his MCL and ACL based on how his knee was moving. We're thankful for the ER nurse who looked at the doctor and said "his knee is fine, he has a broken leg." They got the pain medicine going, did the X-ray, and we were able to move on from there. His teammates were allowed in with him in the ER (thankfully a slow night) and so Bo has experienced a ton of love and support the whole way through this. Pretty amazing to see a group of football players bawling their eyes out.

 

Franklin's coach came by to see him while he was in surgery which we thought was a classy move. He let Coach Rector know that the team had met to pray for Bo as well. Their D-Coordinator called the house to let us know how bad the whole team felt. We know there was nothing dirty about the play and no malice.

 

Surgeon put a rod in Bo's leg Saturday morning and we went home Sunday at noon. He's doing so well in spirit and physically. He wanted to go to school for half a day today and we told him no. We occasionally had to kick kids out

of his hospital room and now at the house just so he can sleep. That's actually been the best medicine. There's a group of Raptors eating dinner with him tonight.

 

Prognosis is great. He is expected to be able to start track season on time (he's made state meet since his freshman year in mutliple events including the decathlon). The leg should be stronger than ever. They'll leave the rod in for track season and then remove in a quick procedure at the end of May. Bo's very encouraged right now.

 

He's had about 20 schools actively recruiting him so we started getting the word out to coaches yesterday. He immediately had a note and call from West Point affirming his offer. Louisville stopped by Ravenwood for a scheduled visit with him, though they didn't get to see him in person. Notes from Indiana, WKU, etc. etc. Ted Cain from Vandy called him today to talk.

 

Good news is he'll be back 100%. Bad news and source of a lot of tears is losing his senior season of football. Coach Rector plans to keep him busy and contributing to the program.

That's really a blow to their program. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe he is the only starter left from the runner-up team in 06. Best of luck to the young man.

 

Some of the other seniors got a lot of playing time. If I remember correctly, Ryan Powell was slotted to start before getting hurt before the season started. Bo did start all games at Bandit and played some on offense at WR.

Happy to hear he is doing well and for all of the great support, both internal and external. Glad that FHS coaches did what they did, and just want to comment on how fortunate we (6-5A) all are to be in a group of schools, Ravenwood, Brentwood, Franklin, Independence etc. who while we have tremendous rivalries and compete fiercely almost always do the right thing and show maturity and respect for one another after the game, players and coaches alike. We are all fortunate to have "good coaches" setting examples for our youth in Williamson County

      Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.

      West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.

      I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.

      I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!

      Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
