you guys won the game. id leave the coaching to the staff. you have an excellent coaching staff over there.

What type of insight do you have to come to this conclusion? If I had to guess all you've seen of Rhea County with this coaching staff is one blow out loss to the Owls and one jamboree quarter.

I'm just tired of consistently underachieving.

I noticed that with Tallent on Friday as well. I don't know who they could rotate in though. Have we had some delay of game problems this year? I can't think of any off the top of my head. I know we had plenty of trouble with it last year.

1st- i wasn't aware that 7-0 with the sole touchdown coming in the final minute a blow out loss.

2nd- There have been little to no delay of game penalties this year

1st - If you would read a little more carefully you would see that I used the conjunction "and". Other examples of conjunctions are "but" and "or" in case you didn't know.

2nd - The "and" mentioned in my first point is separating two different occasions that the Eagles have squared off against Ooltewah since the current coaching regime took power. The first of which was a 28-6 "blowout" loss in 2006. The second of which was the twenty minute quarter at Finley a few weeks ago where our "excellent" coaching staff manage to produce a dismal 8 yards of total offense.

Do you understand now? It's really not that difficult to grasp the conjunction concept. I've got some School House Rock videos lying around the house if you need any additional help.

Very nice. I would have added something in there about the worst looking fake FG in the history of mankind (at Finley), but PR Guy would probably accuse me of having some sort of vendetta.

Back to the point at hand, having your QB run back and forth from huddle to sideline usually only comes with the problem of wearing your QB out. However, in two-minute drill situations, this is a bigger problem. Having the QB run to get the play and back to the huddle to call it will waste valuable time.

True, delay penalties haven't been a real problem, but clock management has (see end of first half vs. Hixson).

LOL /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> Nice. No Me No that can't be LOL! You brought it on yourself. As for the fake field goal that was the snappers fault. He snapped it to soon. They were suppose to come back in and kick it. I can't believe what I'm reading you all are worried about a well conditioned athlete getting tired from walking/jogging over to the side line. Please. That is why they condition. I mean is there is about 30-35 seconds as soon as the play goes dead, that is plenty of time to get the play in. As for a two mintute offense Cam knows what to do. They practice this situation in practice a good bit. As for hand signals I could careless if they were used.

Wow you people worry too much about things that you have NO control over. Only players, coaches and sometimes refs, have control of what goes on that field and sideline. 3-0 and they still complain.

We were 3-0 last year too to be fair about it.

Complaining about the way the plays are being called? That's a little much guys. As long as the offense gets the snap off in time I'm fine.

I do notice that many times the defense is standing there looking at Coach Fitzgerald waiting on the play call, while the offense is already lined up about to snap the ball. I understand that he's probably just trying to get a good look at the personnel/formation of the offense before calling the play, but it could really cost us. If I remember correctly, that was the cause of a big momentum swing when we played Maryville a few years back---A long TD run while the defense was looking towards the sidelines.

I remember that game. The refs didn't help us out either that game either...some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.

I think you're misunderstanding the issue. I'm sure the guy is in shape enough to play. You have even admitted that the play takes 30 to 35 seconds to get in running them in this way. On its face, that's no problem. The problem occurs when in a two-minute situation the plays phyisically can't get in quick enough, which is all I've said. Hopefully, we have a quick way to get plays in when this situation comes up. Based on the Hixson game alone, we don't have one.

PR Guy, this conversation started as a couple of guys ( I assume ) talking football. Not bashing, but just talking strategy and X's and O's. I'm not sure why you feel that you are "the annointed one" to defend the coaching honor of Rhea County football. Anything remotely negative said here must be confronted, belittled and/or denied by you, as you are the self-appointed PR man. The fact is, people want to see this team do well. In fact, they want to see this team do so well that they may even go so far as to talk about what would make them even better (novel concept). People want to see this team take the next step, as they are a pretty talented bunch.

Well put, Rusty. I'd rather hear your honest opinion that Rhea County's PR any day.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
