Buzz up! The District 10-AAA volleyball tournament has been set with a familiar name at the top of the list. Rossview earned the No. 1 seed over Dickson County despite both teams having equal 13-1 district records. Both teams split their regular season matches, but the Lady Hawks slid into the top spot because they beat Dickson by four games while it took five for the Lady Cougars to get past Rossview.

"We've got a great team and we've already played strong competition this year," Rossview coach Terry Teeter said. "There's a lot of very good teams in this district, most of which have improved this year."

The first round games will all begin at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Rossview hosts Springfield and Dickson County will host seventh-seeded Clarksville High while third-seeded Henry County will welcome sixth-seeded Kenwood.

Fourth-seeded Northeast will host fifth-seeded Northwest.

If Rossview wins Thursday, it will host the rest of the tournament Saturday. Games will be played at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and the district championship is scheduled for 1 p.m.

If the Lady Hawks lose to Springfield, the tournament will be played at the next highest seed's gym.

"I can foresee Dickson being our biggest challenge," Teeter said. "All of the district teams have gotten better and we've lost some games this season. Thankfully not many have been in district."

Rossview has a 24-11 record this season. Last year the Lady Hawks lost the regular season title to Clarksville High but rebounded to win the district tournament and went on to capture its first region championship against Smyrna.

Northeast and Northwest have made the biggest strides during the season and the Lady Eagles and Lady Vikings square off in Thursday's round.

Clarksville High has struggled this season with a new coach and young players, but the Lady Wildcats stayed out of the district cellar despite losing to Springfield Tuesday night.
